I believe blasphemy is “ascribing to God something that is not God’s”. For instance, saying “God wants me to have this Cadillac” or “God wants me to leave my family and take up with this new woman” or “If you give ME money, God will bless you” or calling something Scripture that really isn’t Scripture like the Book of Judas.

To what are you referring? This post is about the life and teachings of Christ, as described in the Holy Bible, which the LDS hold as canonical.

I was responding to your post which mentioned blasphemy as one of the teachings of Christ.

So what is blasphemous about Elder Talmage’s post on the Savior?

This thread is posted in the Religion Forum.

If you do not wish to see RF posts, do NOT use the "everything" option on the browse. Instead, browse by "News/Activism." When you log back in, the browse will reset to "everything" - so be sure to set it back to "News/Activism."

Also, this is an "ecumenic" thread. That means the poster must not argue against any other beliefs. He can only argue for what he believes – or ask questions.

Your post was not "ecumenic" and therefore it was pulled.

Other types of threads on the Religion Forum:

Prayer threads are closed to debate of any kind.

Devotional threads are closed to debate of any kind.

Caucus threads are closed to any poster who is not a member of the caucus. If it says “Catholic Caucus” and you are not Catholic, do not post to the thread. However, if the poster of the caucus welcomes you, I will not boot you from the thread.

Ecumenic threads in this trial run are closed to all “anti” arguments. Posters who try to tear down other’s beliefs – or use subterfuge to accomplish the same goal – are the disrupters on ecumenic threads and will be booted from the thread and/or suspended.

Open threads are a town square – posters may argue for or against beliefs of any kind. They may tear down other's beliefs. They may ridicule, similar to the Smoky Backroom with the exception that a poster must never “make it personal.” Reading minds and attributing motives are forms of “making it personal.” Thin-skinned posters will be booted from “open” threads because in the town square, they are the disrupters.

Blasphemy is speaking or writing something about The Lord with the deliberate, calculated intent of causing insult or injury....basically it is the deliberate profaning of The Lord.

We may want to include this

Mat 12:31 MKJV
(31) Therefore I say to you, All kinds of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven to men, but the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit shall not be forgiven to men.

The Religion Moderator asked that we not do that and I will respect their wishes.

Since seven has linked to the previous chapters, please read Godzilla’s post, #22, in the “Pre-existence” link 7 has provided for an accurate accounting.

Those early chapters remain open, since the Ecumenic option was not available at the time.

Enjoy yourselves. ;-)

I am baiting? I thought AP did that here:

“or calling something Scripture that really isn’t Scripture like the Book of Judas.”

I asked for clarification, since this whole post is about the biblical record of the Messiah. If that in turn is baiting, then perhaps you both need to leave the thread, because you don't understand the purpose of this post.

Sevenbak: Am I baiting ? I thought AP did that here:

AP's comment “or calling something Scripture that really isn’t Scripture like the Book of Judas.”

well theres a new one - none of us are gnostics, so how could we (you included) possibly be offended ? Why in Heavens name would you draw offense at an innocuous example like that?

Did you mistakenly infer he was referring to some other document ?

Now, rather than ignore my last comment - which was an opinion, youve drawn this out to BAIT me into a button whacking.

No thanks - enjoy your thread, I am abandoning it as you have requested.
