As per RM request:
Caution: this thread has been labeled “ecumenic” which means the poster must not argue against any other beliefs. He can only argue for what he believes – or ask questions.

I tried to be polite but it seems in each of your post you continue to fault find and argue against the LDS instead of arguing what your believe is.

If you wish to argue "against" any other belief - in this case, LDS, stay on the "open" threads. Leave the "ecumenic" threads.

On the Religion Forum:

Prayer threads are closed to debate of any kind.

Devotional threads are closed to debate of any kind.

Caucus threads are closed to any poster who is not a member of the caucus. If it says “Catholic Caucus” and you are not Catholic, do not post to the thread. However, if the poster of the caucus invites you, I will not boot you from the thread. The “caucus” article and posts must not compare beliefs or speak in behalf of a belief outside the caucus.

Ecumenic threads are closed to all “anti” arguments. Posters may express the beliefs they are “for” but not those they are “against.” They may also ask questions. Posters who try to tear down other’s beliefs – or use subterfuge to accomplish the same goal – are the disrupters on ecumenic threads and will be booted from the thread and/or suspended. Do not “pick at scabs” by mentioning prior “open” threads. If you need to make a point previously made on an “open” thread, summarize it anew.

Open threads are a town square – posters may argue for or against beliefs of any kind. They may tear down other's beliefs. They may ridicule, similar to the Smoky Backroom with the exception that a poster must never “make it personal.” Reading minds and attributing motives are forms of “making it personal.” Thin-skinned posters will be booted from “open” threads because in the town square, they are the disrupters.

colorcountry, quotes mined from an anti-LDS website and served up on an "ecumenic" thread breaks the tone of ecumenism. Don't do it. And don't ask "loaded questions" or use any other device which effectively circumvents the guidelines for the Religion Forum.

Argue "for" what you believe, not "against" any other beliefs.

If either of you cannot or will not comply, leave the thread now.

I did state what I believe is, and I also raised questions about LDS.

It is sometimes interestingly difficult in specific instances to raise questions without it lapsing into, or appearing to be outright ‘arguing against’ whether it is LDS, Southern Baptist, Greek Orthodox, Roman Catholicism, Jehovah’s Witnesses, or “pick your denomination/sect”.

Especially challenging when some of the questions there to be asked are forthrightly about a founder, and that founders statements or doings - or another leader and that person’s words and deeds.

There lurks an underlying question of whether or not any leader in any denomination/sect ought be free from scrutiny, or inherently above reproach. If such questions are verboten - not to be asked here - then sobeit.

You say you “tried to be polite” and I take no issue with that.

I believe it is also clear that I have been polite, completely civil, and openly interested in finding points of conciliation amongst divergent POVs.

I will quite agreeably in future postings choose my words even more carefully, and frame things in terms of asking questions, etc...

There is no need for any among us to be oversensitive in these issues; I am not here to malign, lie, or namecall - but to gain understanding, insight, and to share. I do - as stated previously - have a bride to consider in this.

Part of what I endeavor to gain, may serve me to be a better partner in our relationship.

Your input is noted.
