So he wasn't 'qualified' to write what he saw, eh???

You presume he only wrote what he saw.

I don't see where a person has to have a degree in journalism or major in History to just write down what he sees going on around him...

Did I claim that??????????????????????

Calvin was quite the petty tyrant. He even got himself thrown out of Geneva for trying to establish an Iranian-style theological autocracy.

I converted to Catholicism back in 1987. I was enlightened by the Holy Spirit that Catholicism is truly following in Christ’s footsteps.

I don’t agree with this man. He is dead wrong. I will pray for him that he can be enlightened as I was.

I do wish protestants would just see Catholic as they are, just Christians. Oh do get over all this stupid fighting and get on with life.

I do refute his statements as I was invited to in the article.

I also object to the Catholic bashing of this thread.

This should qualify as hate speech.

Come on now, you know toleration is more valued than Truth around here :-)

On a more serious note, is it me or has the Religion forum become the Devils' playground? Was a time a thread like this would have been pulled.

“I’ve quit visiting the religion forum, it has gotten a bit too klanish....”

Having heard things regarding Klanish anti-Catholic propaganda so common many years ago from older relatives, I would tend to agree with you. I would appreciate it if the Religion Moderator would pull this obviously hate filled thread. I am surprised and appalled that it has not been pulled earlier.

I believe it would have been better if it had been pulled some time ago.

It seems to have become so.

Well, I must say that I find this post too vacuous to respond to. There’s not really anything to argue with, closer to blind prejudice or what is technically known as “invincible ignorance.”

It reminds me of some of the old Darwin threads.

It takes more than that, sandyeggo, to qualify as "hate mongering."

Some posters here have been accused by other posters of being "Satanist" and took no offense while the poster who made that claim was offended that he was called a "Roman" Catholic.

Peter was called "Satan" by Jesus Christ. The Pharisees accused Jesus of being empowered by Beelzebub.

For the website, material, speech or poster to be "hate mongering" hate itself must be the agenda - a deliberate, focused effort to cause others to hate someone for his/her race, nationality, gender, creed, etc.

This is an "open" thread on the Religion Forum.

Prayer threads are closed to debate of any kind.

Devotional threads are closed to debate of any kind.

Caucus threads are closed to any poster who is not a member of the caucus. If it says “Catholic Caucus” and you are not Catholic, do not post to the thread. However, if the poster of the caucus invites you, I will not boot you from the thread. The “caucus” article and posts must not compare beliefs or speak in behalf of a belief outside the caucus.

Ecumenic threads are closed to all “anti” arguments. Posters may express the beliefs they are “for” but not those they are “against.” They may also ask questions. Posters who try to tear down other’s beliefs – or use subterfuge to accomplish the same goal – are the disrupters on ecumenic threads and will be booted from the thread and/or suspended. Do not “pick at scabs” by mentioning prior “open” threads. If you need to make a point previously made on an “open” thread, summarize it anew.

Open threads are a town square – posters may argue for or against beliefs of any kind. They may tear down other's beliefs. They may ridicule, similar to the Smoky Backroom with the exception that a poster must never “make it personal.” Reading minds and attributing motives are forms of “making it personal.” Thin-skinned posters will be booted from “open” threads because in the town square, they are the disrupters.

If you are easily offended, you must stay off the "open" threads and instead post to the prayer, devotional, caucus or ecumenic threads.

Everyone has a voice on the Religion Forum. The "trick" is for each poster to find the right type of thread for himself and to stay away from the ones that are wrong for him.

People like Mc Arther love money, not Christ.
This guy is divisive even amongst protestants.

He needs an exorcism!

Excerpt from This Rock
http://www.catholic.com/thisrock/1996/9606fea2.asp

Karl Keating told me he has been trying to engage MacArthur in a debate for some time, but MacArthur has never answered his letters. Apparently, these men are HAPPY TO MAKE A FORTUNE from anti-Catholic books and tapes but don't have the guts to face us in person.

MacArthur knows we're out here; he just chooses to ignore us. He writes in the above book: “A new generation of Roman Catholic apologists have taken up arms against sola fide. According to them, Scripture doesn't teach the doctrine-it is an invention of Luther and the Reformers.” Almost in the same breath he then says: “Too few are able or willing to defend evangelical truths against contradictory views. It is easier-and, it seems, so much more polite-simply not to argue. Therefore attacks on crucial evangelical doctrines often go unanswered” (4-5).

In psychology they call it “projection,” accusing someone else of the very thing one is doing. In apologetic circles we call it, “not putting your money where your mouth is.” If MacArthur is so up in arms about those in his own camp who don't stand up to “defend evangelical truths,” then why has he consistently denied Catholic apologists a formal debate?

This hatred and disdain among fellow Christians makes me want to puke. I can only imagine how offensive it must be to God. My Catholic faith has given me Jesus and love for others. Catholic teachings have given me examples of blessed families. I have NO divorces in my family and I thank God for those gifts, that through my faith, has allowed that. There is nothing that anyone can say that will change my love for the great gift of Catholic teachings that God has given me. Anyone who hates the Pope, hasn’t read John Paul II encyclicals, they are pure love. Pope Benedict has a book called Jesus of Nazareth, which is truly inspired by the Holy Spirit.

In that case I hope that no one is easily offended when I say that this thread has the kind of things on it that I would expect to hear were I a fly on the wall at a Klan meeting. I expect more out of Free Republic.

If they were offended by your accusation they would be too “thin-skinned” for an “open” thread in the Religion Forum.

Are you happy now? The “Catholic crew and their sympathizers” have been censored.

Yes...I don't care for mob rule and I support free speech as well as justice...
