If the priest thought that you think that Mary could do the least blessing on her own without the Grace of the Holy Spirit, he would correct you. Mary is a blessed creature, totally dependant on God, and isn’t the least bit powerful without God’s power. If the priest got the vibe that you think Mary is more than this, he would tell you that you were in grave error, and have departed from orthodox Christianity, and to repent from this.

If you think Catholics worship Mary, how come we won’t admit it? Do you think we know that we worship Mary, but are lying about it, even to each other?

Mary, this Catholic FReeper would never be so presumptuous as to tell your church members what they believe, how they worship, or that they do something that they do not do.

Do you know why it is that Protestants here tell Catholics that they worship Mary, when time after time, we say that we do not? Don’t they think we know what our beliefs are, and what we do?

I belong to a non-denominational spirit-filled church, under the headship of Elim Bible Fellowship in Lima, NY. Elim’s an old pentecostal school, been around for a long time (but don’t ask me how long). Many churches are under its umbrella. My church building was Baptist until a few years ago when we became less Baptist and more spirit-filled or charismatic.

"There are skeletons in all our church denominations."

Too true.

Because it would be easy for anyone holding a bible to say the RCC is apostate if they stepped over that line. By the way my wife and I have some dear drinking friends that are RCs. They know very little of Marian doctrine. They certainly don't worship Mary.

Well, I am going out to begin mowing my acre of lawn. I’ll check in later to see what is going on.

He only wants to discuss his beliefs with his fellow believers. No danger there...

That yahoo's words should mean nothing--particularly when surrounded by derogatory wording--yet somehow, I am considered not to know what I believe?

The discussion is academic. Your above statement is "taking it personally" which is disrupting to "open" threads. If you cannot or will not avoid personalizing the issue, then leave the thread.

So Catholics are afraid of what other Christians would think of them if they came out and admitted Mary worship? That doesn’t sound like the Catholic Church to me. I mean the whole reason we don’t admit to our Mary worship is so other Christians wouldn’t think even worse about Church teaching than they already do?

We have atheist Freepers, theists, anti-theists, diests, agnostics, wiccans and for all I know Freepers who worship rubber ducks.

There is no "official" religion on Free Republic.

No wonder poor Jean Cauvin was so bitter.

I heard him say on the news that Mary had saved his life when they tried to assassinate him. Never God saved my life, but Mary saved my life. Hmmmmm.

Then the head of the church is suddenly only the head of the church through her, His position has been usurped!

None of this has anything to do with Catholicism.

Amen, Dr. E. Even when you use their own Vatican writings, they refuse to listen. They want their ears tickled.

So we are lying; we all know that we are apostates but want fool the world, even our own children? BTW, if you were to spend some time with real Catholic theology, and not just what others say about it, you would find how truly rooted in the Bible it is. It is not that we disagree with the authority of the Bible, only with different interpretations of the Bible.
