Amen, Dr. E. Most don’t understand that and don’t want their church criticized at all.

“It’s good to come out with it. Thank you.”

Thank you for a civil discussion. Apologetics appears to be lost here sometimes.

We agree to disagree on so many aspects. Calling one another names is just not acceptable and I appreciate it.

“It’s good to come out with it.” Of course you still will not understand Mary’s place in salvation and I accept that.

It does not in any way do anything other than point to Jesus Christ as the God, Savior, Messiah. He is the Redemption.

There are skeletons in all our church denominations.

“First, I’m not a Calvinist...”

What is your denomination?

The shame, narses, is that no matter what is posted that reveals truth about past and present Catholic beliefs, you absolutely refuse to believe them. NO church is perfect, ALL churches have heretical beliefs. Ask God to reveal the truth to you, narses. Nobody here is trying to hurt you but to show you what’s heretical in your teachings.

>>All of us believe that.

Incorrect. Not all Freepers are Catholic, Christian, Jewish or Muslim. Nor have I seen any agreement among Freepers that the Catholic Church speaks as “the” religious authority for all. <<

Wait, are you saying that some FReepers are idol worshipers? Because if they are not idol worshipers then that would be wrong to them. Somehow I see only Christians arguing here. I haven’t yet run into an idol worshiper.

And I never said the Catholic Church is “the” religious authority for all, just for Catholics. As the US Consitution is the law for Americans not the french. So, the French cannot define what our consitution says as the non-Catholics cannot define what Catholic law is.

Now, to say that “some” Catholics do this or that is fair, as “some” Americans believe that abortion is fine. But to say that the way the Catholic Church defines Catholic worship is wrong because a non-Catholic sees it differently, is a Ruth Bader-Ginsburg way of defining the law.

That’s what satan would love to have us do, Dad. Many of us love our Catholic brethren and don’t want to see them lose eternal life because of lies. Eternity is much more important to all of us than what’s going on here on earth.

What is your denomination? I’ve asked others but do not get a reply.

Is it something that has to be hidden?

Settlements generally involve two opposing sides coming to an agreement outside a "court" or, in the alternative, the issue being resolved by the court.

Settling what a religion believes, however, involves taking the religious authority of that church SAYS it believes.

For the moderator to assert that it is not "settled" when the Catholic Church says it does not worship Mary seems a bit diseigenuous.

We have here the ludicrous example of Protestants telling us what we believe (that Catholics worship Marry)

Then we assert what we believe (no, we do not worship Mary

Then the protestants contradict us.(Oh, yes you do worship Mary)

It's settled, imho, when we say "Catholics do not worship Mary."

How is it NOT settled, when we make a statement of our beliefs? We are the ones who believe it, it is settled for us. No one else can tell us what we believe. Saying it is not settled is telling us what we believe, which is mind reading.

This is where I run into quite a bit of difficulty. I assert that Catholics do not worship Mary. A non-Catholic yahoo says, "I disagree, Catholics worship Mary." That yahoo's words should mean nothing--particularly when surrounded by derogatory wording--yet somehow, I am considered not to know what I believe? And the RM thinks that the issue of what I believe as a Catholic is NOT settled?

Catholics believe what Catholics believe. Some other denomination telling Catholics that they believe something else has NO standing in an honest discussion.

>>The Church of Scientology has successfully prosecuted ex-members for publication of its secrets. Caselaw is established and therefore, if those materials were reproduced here, they would be pulled.<<

Was that in an American court or an international court? If it was not international, it doesn’t apply to all FReepers.

“ALL churches have heretical beliefs”

What is heretical in your chruch? You don’t name your denomination, but you claim all have heretical beliefs?

Are you in your own church?

I’m guessing here, but you read the Scriptures and interpret them yourself.

You believe you are your own authority.

No, I’m not in ‘my own church.’ Our church was Baptist until a few years ago and we consider ourselves non-denominational. We’ve been here well over 100 years in this spot. I should probably have said all denominations have heresties in them. If not the church itself, then at least in congregations who may not read their Bibles and know what the Word says about faith, Christ, etc. Unfortunately, in this ‘new world’ we’re in, many denominations that started out as believing churches, have strayed, esp. the Episcopalians and some Presbyterians. Stick to the word of God.

Thanks for your answer.

That certainly clears things up for me. Now if the others would admit to their denominations or lack thereof.
