This thread is so Henry the 8th.
“Papists”, really?
When most folks hear that word, the polite discussion usually stops. Why drag this piece from the 1800’s up? What was the point?
you know you are dealing with someone insecure in there own religion that you feel the need to attack someone else’s beliefs. That is not what this country was founded on.
Bravissimo!
I don’t have to believe zilch.
My name is the Cynic within my family and my circle.
Your Protestant teachers have taught Rapture and other unbiblical ideas. There are Protestants with Blessed Prayer Cloths and other things. That’s an agreement in your circle?
There seems to be a HUGE debate on the different aspects of pre-, post, a, or whatever millinarianism along with lots of discussion on other issues.
The pious beliefs of some, and the theological meanderings of those more learned than you or I are not dispised, but until it is Dogma, it isn’t declared.
The Holy Spirit will work in the Church as He has always worked in the Church..in His own Good Time.
You all need to stop declaring it a Dogma of the Church. It isn’t. It may be tomorrow or in a thousand years, but right now it isn’t.
Thank you for those words of sanity.
I’m going to plant my tomatoes now and leave them to continue flogging their dead horse.
“Your pope believes Mary is the co=Redeemer”
This is not true.
Please offer proof of what you have said.
Not a single source, yet you cling to it so fervently. Yes, Catholic Marian doctrines have existed since the first century, Dr. Eck, and they have been distorted and exaggerated since the 16th.
And yet those distortions and exaggerations live on in the words, pronouncements and writings of bishops, cardinals, popes, saints and the "faithful" who trust them -- without official rebuke of any kind from the Vatican. Go figure --
Yeah, go figure such an eminent scholar as Charles Spurgeon doesn’t provide any sources.
“It’s getting a little crowded in there, isn’t it??? “
lol
Just curious — Have you ever heard or read anything from a Catholic prelate or other official source stating that Mary is also in the Eucharist????
Perhaps you have no desire to be honest. Perhaps you see nothing wrong with bearing false witness against the Catholic Church.Perhaps.
I don't know of any Catholics (in the Philippines or elsewhere) who believe that Mary had any other children, or that she ever lost her virginity. And AFAIK, Catholics believe that Mary herself was "immaculately conceived" (ie in similar manner to Jesus).
I am stuck on the question of WHY do people RCC or anyone else - expend SO MUCH effort on extra-Biblical doctrines? Why create so many “talking points” and defend such extra-Biblical stuff so stridently?
The ONLY conclusion I can come to is that of being unsatisfied with Christ. If Christ is enough, no need for all this distracting, argumentative, religion - be it Marianism or PurposeDrivenism.
A pox on the whole lot of religious zealots for whom Christ is not adequate!
Jumping to conclusions and generalizing is just conjecture.
Poor, poor Joseph. Never got to enjoy the God-given prerogative of marriage. /s I don’t believe that. Nor is their any Scriptural necessity of it after the birth of Jesus Christ. I don’t believe Joseph had children by a previous marriage. That’s just concocted. Jesus had half-brothers after his birth. There is no Scriptural reason to believe otherwise.
100,000 is the highest estimate. 10,000 is the low. The real number is probably in between.
As a catholic I cannot ignore the fact that this happened, and I will not try to defend it. It was a senseless slaughter, period.
Thank you Danny!!!
I loved your post. It shows that although we have different ideas, we can talk on a thread and not constantly slam eachother.
I have said many a time, I love the kind and Loving Non-Catholics on FR. And I would count that as MOST.
Lord Love you Danny! You are truly blessed in the ways of Christ.
Come on now Alex. You've been in enough debates around here to know that there is NO SIMILARITY between the Immaculate Conception and the Incarnation. Catholics DO NOT believe that Mary was conceived in a non-sexual way and you know it.
