Tell you what... if Jesus is dead, then it falls within that prohibition. If He is not, then the prohibition - while still valid - does not apply.

The simple fact of the matter is that tattooing for aesthetic/expressive reasons is distinct from the pagan practices the Pentateuch forbade - much like cotton-polyester clothing is not forbidden either.

Summation statements are often used to negate legal details. You know, "Just love everybody." That is not their intent. To do so is to turn the very statements on their head. What is the definition of love? Keep His Commandments (1John 5:3).

The "two commandments" that all the law hangs are both found in the Law itself. Deuteronomy 6:4 and Leviticus 19:8.

Without the Law - ALL OF IT, you do not even know what loving G-d and loving your neighbor MEANS.

If Jesus was shot to death, would you have a tattoo of a gun?

The cross was a curse...The cross was shameful...If you absolutely MUST get a tatoo, why not one that says, “I love Jesus”???

I do agree that we need the Commandments to tell us the true content of love. Without the Commandments, many a man who thought it was enough to “love his neighbor” found it even more satisfactory to ‘love’ his neighbor’s wife.
