. I’m doing what I do because I believe it is what I should do.

I thought you said that you aren't doing what you should, that you don't have a Temple recommend? Am I wrong?

In reviewing your series of posts, I confess
I’m lost. What I see is long rambling posts
about:

Dairy Queens
Buses
Secret Clubs

Mormons on this thread have tried to say
Lincoln was a Universalist, a Deist, now
a closet Mormon.

There may be some mormonism secret symbolism
here that I just don’t understand - like
the Masonic rituals Joseph Smith added to
mormonism after he became a Mason. In any case,
I’ve never been part of a cult, or specifically,
the cult of mormonism. The symbolism and code
language is lost on me.

I am pinging colorcountry, a descendant of mormons,
who came to know Christ several years ago and is
now a Christian. She may be “bilingual”, being
familiar with the secret rituals, symbolism,
signs, secret handshakes (I think it’s three to
get into heaven?), that I am not up on.

Color, would you either explain this to me or
answer in my behalf? Thank you dear one.

best,
ampu

“I thought you said that you aren’t doing what you should, that you don’t have a Temple recommend? Am I wrong?”

Sort of wrong. More like out of date. I wasn’t doing what I should. Working on fixing that now. Not in a great rush, since many of the circumstances of that time still obtain. My wife’s health is not really good, although better, and mine is not great, although better, so we aren’t missing as many meetings, but I refuse to go and spread my germs to people who don’t need them. We are full tithe-payers, now. have been since just before Christmas. I’m keeping a much closer eye on the budget to prevent finding that I don’t have enough $$ in the account to cover a tithing check. I have a new job, and I’ve cut back on the hours of classes I’m taking at university. I’ve spent the summer trying to dejunk the house, and rearranging things so life is easier and access is better for my wife’s wheelchair. Stuff like that. I’m attending the temple prep class when I do attend church, to brush up on the requirements, and expect no trouble when I do ask for my recommend. I could ask this week, but I’d like to get the attendance up a bit. From what they are saying when I am there, I’m obviously missing a lot of good stuff when I’m not.

Be vary wary of this one. I have been accused of a “hate” crime.

I DO know something about Dairy Queens however. The Bishop in my town was the owner of the one and only, fast food, drive-in type of eating establishment in a very active tourist community (which is a long way of sayin he was busy and his business was lucrative.)

Going down mainstreet to the Dairy Queen to watch the icecream drip was an approved activity. He also only hired the best-looking girls in town to work for him. HMMMMMmmmmm

I guess you didn't get the gist of this post...

"More to the point, why should we even bother to read spam after the first hundreds of words? Especially when it's some kind of "faith-promoting-rumor". We get hit daily with accusations of "doubtful sources" but are supposed to be taken in by these articles? I think not."

When you turn on the spam, I tune out.

I don’t speak mormon. Sorry I can’t help you.
It can be used as a verb... as in DQ’d

Deja vu all over again...back to the same tired mantra.

I chose based on what the Holy Ghost told me was true.

As I've said several times on these threads, good for you for having a testimony. Just don't argue YOUR testimony to be better than MY testimony in a debate.

MY testimony tells me that Joseph Smith did NOT speak to God, did NOT receive golden plates and did NOT restore the "gospel".

And, BTW, I could care less whether Arthur Conan Doyle and Abraham Lincoln read the Book of Mormon OR the Kama Sutra.

Why anyone would think that would enhance Romney's fitness to be POTUS, or encourage anyone to vote for him escapes me.

Do you see all of the Mormon defenders in this light?

No,I was addressing the particular ones. I have close friends who are Mormons. But they don’t participate in Mormonism Apologetics and I don’t spend precious time together opposing the heresies of Mormonism. The Romney candidcay is bringing out a rather offensive crew at FR.

This just in: Monday, July 30, 2007
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll shows that former Tennessee Senator Fred Thompson and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani remain in a virtual tie atop the race for the Republican Presidential nomination. Thompson attracts support from 25% of Likely Republican Primary Voters while Giuliani is the top choice for 24%. Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney and Arizona Senator John McCain are each preferred by 12% (see daily history).

Instead of trying to dissemble with frivolous personal attacks of my being histrionic, why don’t you just answer the question I’ve asked several times.

We already know you personally disqualify a Mormon from being POTUS for no other reason except his religious faith. You stated in post #380:

“I have dear friends who are in mormonism. I truly like them.
I’d do anything for them as friends. That doesn’t mean
I have a good view of moromonism (it’s a cult) or would
vote for a mormon who ran for POTUS. Lower offices, maybe.
POTUS? No.”

In your world, what “lower offices” might a Mormon “MAYBE” be okay to get your vote? Can you answer that question?

Since you are experiencing difficulties
and adding to what I said, let’s make
this very easy...

1. I will not vote for a cultist for POTUS - including
a mormon cultist. It isn’t his religious faith I object
to, as you well know.

2. I will take all other offices into consideration
when they arise.

3. Why do you give a flying leap about what any one
voter decides to do with his vote?

Back to Dairy Queen, where our private club is holding
a secret meeting. I’ve got to bone up on the three
secret handshakes before I go, so gotta run... the bus
will be here soon!

Good luck with your own vote as an American citizen.

best,
ampu

on the baffling and illegitimate opposition among voters to Mitt Romney due to his religion.

"Illegitimate? "

Last I checked, the Constitution does not require one to have a "legitimate" reason to oppose a candidate.
