I can’t remember where I saw it, but the question was raised “Why do Unitarian Universalists do so poorly at congregational singing?”. The answer was that they keep reading ahead in the hymnal to be sure that they find nothing inconsistent with their lack of beliefs.

I’ve been to a Unitarian Church. It ain’t a religion - its group therapy.

LOL! After my brother visited a Unitarian Church in
a college town (in the South, no less), he returned and said
"That ain't a church....it's a club!".

Even though he was un-churched, my brother could still spot
a faux church!

I met a guy who was founding a church that blended Unitarian and Jehovah’s Witness beliefs.

He knocked on doors for no apparent reason.

I guess they need a little more time to figure out that most members of racial minorities tend to hold very conservative values when it comes to their faith.

They aren’t going to buy the Bravo Sierra these touchy-feely white folks (a tip of the hat to George Jefferson) are selling.

A convict on Death Row, the night before his scheduled execution, was visited by the warden. The warden, in talking with the condemned man, said,

“Usually at this point, persons in your situation find great comfort in talking to a member of the clergy. With that in mind, would you like us to send the prison chaplin over for a visit?”

The convict replied, “Well, warden, I have to tell you - I was raised a Unitarian Universalist.”

The warden then said, “Well, then, would you like to talk to a math professor?”

“Is Christianity about the sins of the individual? Or sins of the group?”

According to Santos, Christian churches themselves are a sin. Unitarians are not Christians. They’re not much of anything, really. They’re not even required to believe in a God at all. Its really more of a social activist club with the trappings of a church to provide spiritual comfort. Look up a UU service some time, get the schedule of event. Look at what the speaking topics are. I’ve never seen a UU topic in my town’s paper that addressed traditional religious subjects; sin, forgiveness, salvation, any of that stuff. Every single speaking topic I’ve seen in my paper for my local UU “church” has been a political subject. Things like how to impact your environment, tax policies hurt the poor, things like that. Imagine a guy with priest’s robes but giving speeches Al Gore would love. That seems to be my local UU’s MO.

“Petra Aldrich, a Boston-based anti-racism trainer for the UUA, said Unitarian Universalists have an insecurity that stems from the faith’s lack of theological structure.

“Because we don’t all believe in the same thing, people look for structure and commonality in how we behave, who we are or who we aren’t,” said Aldrich, who is white, “whether that’s people who wear batik or people who are not racist.”

“A lack of theological structure”

And thusly the snake took the first bite of it’s tail...

When I was attended an Unitarian Church I saw symbols for every religion EXCEPT Christianity.

They preached a “sermon” about “Greeting the Sun” that even mentioned the Aztecs, but somehow skipped over tearing a beating from chest of a sacrificial victim.

I attended a Catholic Church once , Midnight Mass, St. Polycarp, Somerville, Ma., where almost the entire congregation was drunk.

What does that prove? NOTHING!

One could not be considered a Unitarian Universalist and believe that subscription to specific doctrines or creeds are necessary for access to God or spirituality or membership in our congregations. Unitarian Universalists could not believe that God favors any group of people based on any inherent qualities, such as skin color, gender, sexual orientation, physical ability, etc.—or that any group of people is more worthy of access to opportunities than any other as a result of these qualities. We don't believe that autocratic, undemocratic or overly hierarchical systems are appropriate methods of organizing our congregations or the larger society. We don't believe that humanity has the right or moral authority to exploit the environment or other life forms with whom we share this planet."

And this is why this Ex-Catholic, Ex-Protestant, is a Unitarian.

Unitarians Find They're Almost Universally White

Marvellous headline!

Why "almost" universally?

Do Unitarians have some dark patch behind the ear or under the knee?

Or are those on Alpha Centauri more gray than the others?

Unitarians are so far to the left of whackadoo...it’s hard to classify them as Christians. Still it’s not my role to judge... but who cares what they think or do?

The vast majority of “Unitarians” are of a Middle Eastern complexion. There are millions of these believers who fit well with Unitarian beliefs.
