This is basically an attempt to smear Romney because of his mormon faith.

I’m not voting for him because he’s always been a rino from a nationally known rino family; how many would believe a conversion to conservatism by Jay Rockefeller just before an election?

My non-support has absolutely nothing to do with his religion.

Thanks for adding to the total responses to this post.

By slamming another’s motives, you reveal something questionable about your own motives.

Mature just a little, please.

BTW, others responding to the various posts I have placed on this site have basically kept to the issues and thus produced quite interesting, intelligent responses.

I actually support Romney for President of the United States.

I believe him in his moral base.

He’s at the front of the line for me.

Obviously you have misread my post. Sad. Read it again to see that you are misreading my post. Your prejudice against me has colored your reading of my post.

Also, in my various responses to responders, I stated prior that I consider Mitt Romney just fine for the Oval Office. Perhaps you missed my post in that regard.

If you didn’t write it, then I had absolutely no comment about you whatsoever.

Whoever the author is has used an old propaganda technique called guilt by association. If it was in an attempt to SUPPORT Romney, then the author is an idiot.

And what were your motives in slamming Romney and the LDS Church?

Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.

Vanity editorials, prayer requests and devotionals are allowed in the Religion Forum. In those instances, the author is also a Freeper. So although usually authors are subject to personal attacks, in these instances the author is NOT to be treated disrespectfully.

He did not identify himself as the author at the beginning of the thread. Additionally he now has two screen names. Is that kosher? He is not using the Grant Swank screen name that was issued in 2002.

BTW, I did not realize this had been posted in "Religion". It was a political topic. And considering the author's post here, I would think this thread should be moved to "Bloggers and Personal".

Not every poster who returns with a different handle is a "retread." Retreads - banned posters trying to sneak back in - are automatically banned.

Sometimes, posters forget their passwords or forget they had a handle.

On the other point, we usually 'blog' posters who are unpublished authors promoting their private websites.

tnarg admitted to being J. Grant Swank Jr. several threads ago. He's never lied about it when asked, at any rate. Anyone who cared to search his posting history could have discovered his identity for themselves.

The same way Obama will be forced to put down all the polygamist relationships in the muslim strongholds of Michigan, etc?

Will Fred Thompson, if elected, do something about polygamy/child abuse? Will Hillary?

Probably just as much as will Willard. That is to say, not much.

The fact of the matter is that de facto polygamy has been legal since the day we as a society decided to stop punishing infidelity. It is not illegal for a man to have consentual relations with an adult woman who is not his statutory wife (it may technically be illegal in some places, but such laws are not enforced). It is not illegal for a man and woman, legally married to each other, to have another adult woman and her children, reside in their house. What a church thinks of such a relationship (Catholic disapproval, Mormon approval) is no longer of any concern to the state.

The flood gates were opened when we relaxed our attitudes towards infidelity.

I agree, bobjam. Even the laws against sex with underage boys or girls are rarely enforced these days.

Eliminating the welfare bennies would at least make this behavior financial unfeasible for many. I have a lot of sympathy for the young people involved in these societies, whether they're influenced by historical Mormon practices, by Islam, or modern promiscuity. Most of them couldn't live this way without taxpayer support.

It would be great if the President could simply wave his wand and fix everything, but he can't. The Utopian Dream is that, if we just give the Right People enough power, they'll make everyone "be good," but it doesn't work. It always turns into the Totalitarian Nightmare.
