***Catholics don’t have kitchens in their churches ;-)***

But they do serve a good meal there.

Yes. But we siblings do fuss a lot, don’t we?

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes on Him shall not perish, but have life everlasting.

Thank God, He’s God and He loves us.

Christian brothers and sisters are stuck with the same reality that biological sibs must face: there’s not a thing any of us can do about it.

One doesn’t have to assasinate his character. He does a good job of it himself. Below is his post on the thread “Is Mormonism Christian.” See post 77.

Is the Southern Baptist Church the church of the devil?

Yes

***All that said I really do agree with them on a few very important items, and one of their own (Fred Thompson) will be the next POTUS.***

Not if the local C of C preacher has anything to do with it! He is dyed in the wool yellow dog democrat. Just like his preacher daddy, preacher uncle, and preacher grandaddy.

I have no problem with Thompson as long as he sticks to Republican conservative principals. No problem with Romney for the same reason.

The major problem with the love feasts in 1 Corinthians was that some were holding back food.

However, if we wish to say that the words, “you have your own houses to eat in” means that there are no fellowship meals, then it also means that Christians must eat only in their own houses, and never together. They cannot eat together in restaurants, they cannot eat together in buildings next door to or down the road from the worship location, they cannot eat together at picnic areas, and they cannot eat together....well....anyplace.

Oh, good a bash the Baptists story by one who doesn’t have a clue as to what Baptists actually believe. More of a we’re right, they’re wrong type thing. Anyone that reads the Baptist Faith and Message can find the errors in this guy’s statements.

And since ALL trinitarian christians believe it does it really matter what sign is over their meeting hall door?

The sign gives you an idea what the folks inside believe and teach, if you've done a little research beforehand...And I'd bet there are Christians going to heaven from most all denominations...That is in spite of the fact that all denominations do not teach the same thing on how one is supposed to get there....

.

After careful thought and consideration on what the Baptist teach concerning being saved by faith + Noting or saved by Faith + Prayer. I am left puzzled

I find a great problem. If the Baptist teach Faith only, No works == salvation, then to add Prayer before salvation would be a work that you must do. A true Baptist must deny this . However if put after salvation then not necessary to be saved. Since all the baptist Web sights and all the Baptist I have ever heard including Bill Graham(http://bgea.org/SH_StepsToPeace.asp) tell everyone to pray and ask Jesus into their Heart then one of the Following must be true

1. That you can be saved without Jesus in your Heart

2.The Baptist say Faith only but don’t believe it

3. That Jesus is already in their heart and you are asking Jesus to do that which he has all ready done. That would make no sense and would show a lack of faith that he was truly in your heart

when one goes down the road of false Doctrine one will hit a dead end

Bremenboy, I think the way is straight and narrow, but I don’t think it is deliberately peppered with doctrinal landmines. I really don’t think there is an “entrance exam” whereby you need to correctly answer questions about methods of baptism, young earth/old earth, limited or unlimited atonement, etc. If you accept Jesus as your Savior, you’re in.

I'm trying to read it, but so far it makes no sense.
And, this person is a terrible writer.

"I would like to say in the beginning that I have no animosity whatsoever against Baptists. Personally, I have no reason for leaving the Baptist church, but quite to the contrary, if personal reasons counted, I would never have left the Baptist Church, because personality is in their favor."

" Those of you who know the Baptist grading system know that I had to stay for church to make 100."

Huh? I've heard any of this.

Oh...here's the pitch...

"Then, one day my mother and oldest brother, who had been attending the church of Christ, told me how the church of Christ preached the Bible."

No need to read any further.

Charlatan...

Money quote!

"repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."

I was baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

NOT in the name of Jesus Christ.

This guy is a FRAUD.

Why, after several hundred years do you expect anything to change including the hatred Catholics, Protestants, Jews and Muslims have for one another?

Due to 9-11 there is at least some of that, the enemy of my enemy is my new friend between various church groups.

If a person believes that Jesus Christ is his or her personal savior then all this haggling over form and style is bunk in my opinion.

However, if the Muslims ever get the upper hand on this world, then none of this petty arguing over who is or isn’t going to hell, is going to matter a tinkers damn.

Somewhere, the guys in your old church are saying, “Glad he’s gone. He bored the hell out of everybody.” And a big amen went up from the crowd.

"...I think you need to seek professional help."

I think he needs the help of 'The Great Physician'.

Further, he sounds like a politician who can only find and say bad things about his opponent but can say nothing good about himself. It's funny how these people try to cloak themselves in Christianity. They can't just come out and say what they are and then defend what they are. He is just part of the great heresy that Paul and Peter spoke of.

I guess the only thing for us to do is to pray for him.

In Christ, Wiley

If salvation is by "faith" only, what is "faith"? Most people equate faith with "belief". But then "belief" itself is a work:

John 6:29 -- Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”

So faith must be something other than, or more than "belief".

I submit that the idea of faith by the "faith only" world is ill-defined, even misunderstood.

It says it is THE WORK OF GOD, not the work of MAN.

Act 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

God imputed righteousness to the Phillipian jailer and Corenlius, not because the anything but because they believed him.

Rom 4:22 And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.
****
Rom 4:24 But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;

God imputed righteousness to Abraham because he believed what God said, not because he (Abraham) did anything.
