If people are going to put their spiritual growth on hold until September anyway, why should the church fight it?"

This is the inmates running the asylum. Every church I've attended has always kept Sunday services and some weeknight events going during the summer, though scaling down some of the other activities (Sunday school for example) to give members time with their families on vacation. That makes sense to me. The other (the topic of this article) doesn't. Anyone who has walked with the Lord for any length of time knows you can't remain strong in your faith by starving it, and that Christians NEED to meet with and worship their God regularly, and be fed the Word by their shepherd.

I’m always checking things for veracity but I just jumped on this one, LOL.

At least in my parish, the non-Mass activites such as CCD would be on break from May until mid-September for an example. Also there would be more of the cantors doing the music. Otherwise there is still Sunday Mass. I remember a number of years back JPII would remind Catholics as summer vacations would begin and before going to his summer home, to still keep holy Sunday.

I just got to say - there is no way that Hybel’s quotes in this article are accurate, or the story itself for that matter. Sorry to all those who like to slam that which God is blessing, but this article clearly appears to be made up by someone with an agenda

pretty sure it’s satire. HOly Observer is a Christian satire site.

Great news.

Now if we can just find an excuse to give Willow Creek so that it can keep it’s doors closed all the time.

Maybe it’s congregants will find a real church during that time.
