I invite the anti-Catholic, bigotted author to read what Catholics see when they read the Bible:

Salvation (Grace or Grace & Works?)

John 3:5
Titus 3:5
Eph 4:23
I Cor 9:27 & 10:12
Hebrews 10:26
Philippians 2:12
2 Cor 5:10
Rom 2:6, 5:12, 8:24, 11:22
Col 2:23
2 Macabees 12:44-46 (not in KJV)

Penance

Luke 3:8, 13:3, 24:47
Acts 2:38, 3:19, 8:21-22, 17:30
2 Cor 7:10
Matt 3:8
Ps 6:7
Jer 7:3

Confession

John 20:23
Matt 16:19 & 18:18
2 Cor 5:18-20

Eucharist
1 Cor 5:7, 10:16, 11:24, 27-29
Luke 22:19,20
Mark 14:22-24
Matt 26:26
Acts 2:42
John 6:27-71

Baptism of Children
Matt 18:14, 19:13
Mark 10:13-16
Luke 18:15-17
John 3:5
Acts 2:39, 16:15-33
1 Cor 1:16, 15:22

Confirmation
Acts 8:17, 19:6-20
Heb 6:2
2 Cor 1:21
Eph 1:13

Extreme Unction (Last Rights)
James 5:14-15
Mark 6:12

Purgatory
2 Samual 12:13
2 Maccabees 12:44-46
Luke 12:57-59
I Cor 3:15
Col 2:24
I Peter 3:19-21
I John 5:16-17

“Catholic” means “universal”.
It is the result of Christ’s conferral of primacy on Peter.
The Succession to Pope Benedict is historically traceable.
Reference the following:
Matt 16:18-19, 18:16-18, & 28:20
Acts 2:41 & 20:28
John 21:15-19
Ez 37:22-25
Eph 2:19-22 & 3:5
Luke 22:31-32
Gal 1:18
2 Thes 2:15

Too anti-Catholic for me. I have my own issues, but this is mean-spirited and snide, don't want to even bother reading the whole thing.

Again, Iscool has proven once again that God has a sense of humor. I'll pray for you at Mass. I'll ask Christ to give you the gift of tolerance for your fellow Christians.

What goes around comes around I guess.
You should have read some of the Charges leveled
again Jews by the early Church. (Whom Catholics claim to be)

>>I stumbled across this page on the net...I haven't looked at the main site...

I'm almost always happy to discuss the Bible and what we can learn there.

I could write a book on my concerns about and differences with the Catholic church. I could never be Catholic.

I could also write a book defending the Catholic church - they have faced so many obstacles, do so much good, work to correct their errors over time and when I heard John Paul II speak or I hear my friend, a retired nun, I KNOW I hear sincere Christians seeking to do as God asks.

And I certainly don't have a problem with stating that I think an action is wrong - whether we are talking about terrorism or someone stealing from or harming others while they claim to act in God's name...

But this paper feels bad. It feels deliberately hurtful. It doesn't matter if Pastor G. Reckart gets some details right or not if the intent is to harm other Christians and their faith.

I keep coming back to this. God wants us to be good to each other and to love Him and ask forgiveness when we do wrong. Those three simple things that God asks simply don't call me to judge the faith and worship of other Christians.

The Catholic church developed this money scheme to milk loving Catholics who cared for a deceased loved one.

Guess I better up the percentage on my 401k to MAKE SURE that I get into heaven......

But when a Catholic looks into the Bible for this mystery ritual Mass they will not find it.

Not sure what Bible this Pastor is looking at but from Matthew 26:26-28, you find this:

26 And whilst they were at supper, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and broke: and gave to his disciples, and said: Take ye, and eat. This is my body.

27 And taking the chalice, he gave thanks, and gave to them, saying: Drink ye all of this.

28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which shall be shed for many unto remission of sins.

Mark 14:22-24

22 And whilst they were eating, Jesus took bread; and blessing, broke, and gave to them, and said: Take ye. This is my body.

23 And having taken the chalice, giving thanks, he gave it to them. And they all drank of it.

24 And he said to them: This is my blood of the new testament, which shall be shed for many.

Luke 22:19-20

19 And taking bread, he gave thanks, and brake; and gave to them, saying: This is my body, which is given for you. Do this for a commemoration of me.

20 In like manner the chalice also, after he had supped, saying: This is the chalice, the new testament in my blood, which shall be shed for you.

John 6:48-58

48 I am the bread of life.

49 Your fathers did eat manna in the desert, and are dead.

50 This is the bread which cometh down from heaven; that if any man eat of it, he may not die.

51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven.

52 If any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever; and the bread that I will give, is my flesh, for the life of the world.

53 The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying: How can this man give us his flesh to eat?

54 Then Jesus said to them: Amen, amen I say unto you: Except you eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, you shall not have life in you.

55 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath everlasting life: and I will raise him up in the last day.

56 For my flesh is meat indeed: and my blood is drink indeed.

57 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, abideth in me, and I in him.

58 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father; so he that eateth me, the same also shall live by me.

Funny how crap like this comes out during the time of lent, right before the Passion of Christ.

The first thing a Catholic learns when they open their Bible is they cannot buy their way out of hell fire.

When a Catholic looks in the Bible they will not find purgatory. They will not find priests taking money to say a Mass to get souls out of the fires of hell. The Catholic church is popular because many do not want much out of religion and the Catholic church offers them the little they want.

Can't read any further ... laughing hysterically. This is almost as absurd as the Discovery show last night about Jesus' family tomb.

If you want disagreements "based on the Bible," find scriptural validation for this statement that the author made:

It was Jacob (James) the firstborn son of Mary by Joseph after Jesus was born.

THERE IS NOT ONE SINGLE VERSE saying that James is the Blessed Virgin Mary's son or even that he was Joseph's son.

Usually there is music and a song immediately after the consecration that turns the bread and wine into the flesh and blood of Jesus. This is to embellish the moment of the occasion and give it a sense of holiness. The priest then summons the faithful to come forward and receive Christ as Savior. Believing they are receiving Christ as Savior they flock to the front and stick out their tongue to receive Jesus.

But when a Catholic looks into the Bible for this mystery ritual Mass they will not find it.

Oh really?

51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven. 52 If any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever; and the bread that I will give, is my flesh, for the life of the world. 53 The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying: How can this man give us his flesh to eat? 54 Then Jesus said to them: Amen, amen I say unto you: Except you eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, you shall not have life in you. 55 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath everlasting life: and I will raise him up in the last day.
(John 6: 51-55)

So, who is lying, is it our Lord Jesus Christ or the author?

They will not find priests taking money to say a Mass to get souls out of the fires of hell.

Lie ... Catholics don't believe that.

They then learn the Catholic church took up the name "Catholic" from Latin which means "universal."

Error ... it's from Greek.

Christianity existed 295 years before the Catholic church was founded.

Error. This rests on the false notion that the Catholic Church was founded by Constantine in 325. Yet Ignatius of Antioch describes himself as the "bishop of the Catholic Church in Syria" in 107 AD. Go figure.

It is the priest recrucifying Jesus in the emblems of the Eucharist and the Cup. Where in the Bible are we to think that observing the Lord's Communion or Passover memorial we are recrucifying Jesus on the Cross? It is not there! The Catholic who learns this discovers also that the daily multiple Mass observance to recrucify the Lord Jesus is not in the Bible.

Lie ... Catholics don't believe the Mass "recrucifies" or "resacrifices" Jesus, or anyone else.

There are, of course, many other lies and errors in this post.

But, you know, guys like this "Pastor" don't believe "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor" applies to them, if Catholics are involved.

When a Catholic opens the Bible they will not find the Mass. They will not find a crucifix used by the New Testament Church. They will not find a Catholic style altar at all.

Does he mean like this?

Surely, no Protestant would have this in their church!

As much as I love RC vs P debate, I don't know where to start on this thread.

I agree with most of what the writing says though.

This is kind of funny, poor guy, he's so ill informed.

The beloved disciple, John, the last of the New Testament writers, wrote his Gospel in the 90's. John was an eyewitness to the events of the Last Supper (Jn 6:30-68).

Jn 6:53-56
Jesus said to them, "Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him."

The Catholic Church never claimed to be the true church of the Bible. The Catholic Church IS the church established by Jesus Christ. Why would anyone leave the Church Jesus personally established?
