LOL! I don't think our feet were designed to do what ballet asks of them.

Yeah, considering that you are supposed to stand on your bige toe and arch your foot over it....I'm with you on that.

I want my girls to start out in it, it's good training, but move them to something more healthy, like Irish dancing, provided I can afford the dresses, sheesh. With a red head, I just have to try :)

In the event you missed my question and the reason for it I'll try to explain.

First. The fact that Peter was first into the empty tomb doesn't begin to answer the question. What did Peter find in the tomb? Cloth, nothing but cloth. Jesus did not appear to him.

Second. Peter was not the first person Jesus appeared to after the resurrection. To make this claim is to deny Scripture.

Third. Jesus first appeared to Mary Magdalene. My question was, and still is, why?

Do you think you can answer the question I asked in the first place?

Resurrection in the New Testament, Phatmass

Sorry, Reggie but this gets complicated as you can see below. You explain the three other Gospels first because you want me to stick with John. My fingers are getting tired of typing but the entire answer is in the The Navarre Bible RSV, Gospel & Acts. pp 676-677, Four Courts Press, Dublin, 1999.

By the way, the empty cloths and the way they lay is evidence that Jesus was resurrected as the commentaries say. Sorry, it is two pages of typing.

Gospel Messengers Recipients Message
Mark 16:1-8 a young man dressed in a white robe "Mary Magdalene, Mary mother of James, Salome" "Do not be alarmed; you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has been raised; he is not here. Look, there is the place they laid him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see him, just as he told you."
Matt 28:1-8 an angel of the Lord; his appearance was like lightning, and his clothes white as snow "Mary Magdalene and the other Mary" "Do not be afraid; I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for he has been raised, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples, 'He has been raised from the dead, and indeed he is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see him.' This is my message for you."
Matt 28:9-10 Jesus himself (the same two women) "Greetings!" ... "Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will se me."
Luke 24:1-12 two men in dazzling clothes "Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them" "Why do you look for the living among dead? He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be handed over to sinners, and be crucified, and on the third day rise again."
John 20:11-13 two angels in white Mary Magdalene alone "Woman, why are you weeping?"
John 20:14-18 Jesus himself Mary Magdalene, again alone "Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you looking for?"
"Mary!"
"Do not hold onto me, because I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and say to them, 'I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God."

If you have no interest in reading the Catechism, then you have no interest in finding out what Catholics REALLY believe, as opposed to what you THINK they believe. You are content to discuss and debate based on lies and distortions. You, sir, are the one blowing smoke, and you are totally disingenuous. You are not seeking the Truth, you want only to argue. Is your need to be right so strong that you will use falsehood to prove your point(s)? At least you are honest that you don't care about the Truth.

You are making false accusations against me. I defy you to show one single post of mine which fits your description.

I think it's a good place to learn posture, movement and flexibility. Once it moves on to the en pointe part, I'm not for it. Especially as we age, we really need healthy feet!

I think Irish dancing is a great idea.

Then why did Jesus tell those on His left hand (who believed in Him) to depart from Him into the fire prepared for the devil and his angels? It was because they did not feed the hungry and thirsty, clothe the naked, visit the sick and those in prison. "As you did it not to the least of these, you did it not to me." Matthew 25:31-46 If it was all about just accepting Jesus, those on His left would not have been condemned. It is because they did not do what Jesus commanded: Love one another. John 15:12 As James says, faith without works is dead. James 2:26

And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but he that shall speak against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, nor in the world to come. (Matthew 12:32)

Now, it goes without saying that once a person is in Heaven, there is no longer the need for forgiveness.

And it is also accepted that if a person is in Hell, there will never be another opportunity for forgiveness.

So, we are left with a dilemna with only two possible answers:
1. Jesus Christ was lying to us when he said this and everything else we believe is called into question.
or
2. There IS "a world to come" that is between Heaven and Hell where forgiveness of sins is still possible. And this is Purgatory.

Never met a ballet dancer or advanced female gymnast who doesn't have severe foot problems. As you say, the art is asking too much of the anatomy!

In your post, #905, you said that you have no interest in reading the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Therefore, you have no interest in finding out what the Catholic Church REALLY believes. You are content to debate based on what what you THINK the Church believes: falsehoods, not facts.

Nope...I am talking about my experiences at a Catholic College, and my lifetime in large Catholic circles.

Don't let your prejudices affect your perception of me.

OK let me ask a few dumb questions:

Of the estimated 62,000,000 - 70,000,000 Catholics in the United States how many would you estimate have read the Catechism Of The Catholic Church?

Of the estimated 1,200,000,000 Catholics in the World how many would you estimate have read the Catechism Of The Catholic Church?

I think Irish dancing is a great idea.

I come from a HUGE Irish family on both sides, and from what I've seen, a person's adeptness at Irish dancing is directly linked to how early they started drinking!

And that's the biggest problem of all. Since there's no such thing as "A" Protestant Theology, some, or all, MUST be using their own interpretation!

I guess this is a backhanded way of admitting your attack on "Protestant Theology" was mistaken?

This is after the tribulation period. If you are saved, you won't ever hear those words from our Lord Jesus Christ. How do you know if you have done enough to merit salvation. Will you ever do enough? Or do you have to do what you can and hope that you make it in. Rest in the liberty of grace and a weight will be lifted from you. The burden of sin is gone. It has been covered by the blood. Now the focus is off you and on the Lord. He will be your focus instead of your good works. He will do his good works through you.
