And as the Church Fathers agree, in the same way that Peter was given the Keys to Kingdom, each of us who make the faith assertion that Jesus is the Christ also receives the keys.

I would like to see a reference from one of the writings of the Church Fathers on this subject.

BTW, to understand the significance of the "keys," you would need to read Isiah 22:20-22:25. It would be helpful if you looked up Eliakim (son of Hilkiah) in 2 Kings 18-19 for a little context to help with the Isiah reference.

OldTax-lady (my distinguished mother) had to have the bones taken out of the two smallest toes on each foot, because they'd grown sideways.

She gave me a lot of her shoes after that, but my feet got bigger after my 3rd pregnancy and I gave the shoes to The Salvation Army.

I've always had a hard time shifting my view from the sights to the target and back. I think my shooting will improve when I get the bifocals!

Now I'm blushing. :)

This thread and the other have been a welcome bit of fun. One thing about we Catholics: we know how to have a good time!

If you lift the little finger of your right hand just a bit faster, you can type a single question mark, like this: ?

That's not the finger I type with...

OSAS never has made sense to me.

Me either. But that's not what my post is about. (And not all Protestants believe once saved always saved)

It would at least be helpful if more Protestants would confront the wackos in their midst who make ridiculous accusations that the Catholic Church has tried to destroy the Word of God.

I usually try to confront the ones who can be reasoned with. But the nature of wackos is usually such that they cannot be reasoned with.

I will gladly dig this out when I can. I'm headed to my avocational vocation.

The Catholic Church IS the church established by Jesus Christ. Why would anyone leave the Church Jesus personally established?

Can't be...Your church has some unsaved sinners in it...Jesus' church has NO unsaved sinners in it...Would be an impossiblility for an unsaved person to be a member of the church Jesus founded...Therefore, you got the wrong church...

Hi,

Done the Lent research yet?

...Jesus' church has NO unsaved sinners in it..

This is one of the really interesting disagreements. I think we'd refer to the parable of the wheat and the tares. And we'd say it ain't over until it's over. (It's some other religion that has fat ladies ...)

Am I right in saying that you guys don't know who's in your church? Your notion of Church is that it's 'invisible'? Remind me, please, where you find that in Scripture.

Where are all the verse proving his blatant lies? He apparently doesn't study the Bible well enough to miss over all the important stuff...like the Mass and establishing Peter as the Vicar of Christ

I don't remember if it was this posted article or another I read...But someone made a reasonable point...

There has been a lot of discussion recently about the Catholic church and Constantine who joined Christianity with Paganism and now most Christians love the Pagan Holiday, Christmas and the Other one, Easter...

It's been said by numerous Catholics here on FR that there's nothing wrong with celebrating these Pagan Holidays as long as they are used for worshipping Jesus...

I have even been in Protestant churches where they have a decorated Christmas tree during the Christman Holdays which is cleary a Pagan practice...

But in view of your 'pope Peter' statement, what do you think of this thought???

Jesus would not start a Church and then allow the gates of hell to conquer it by adopting pagan religious practices. No, Jesus would keep his Church pure and free from all evil and sin.

So, do the Gates of Hell prevail against churchs that celebrate Easter and acknowledge a Pagan Holiday by celebrating Jesus' birthday on that Satanic day knowing Jesus wasn't born on that day??? Do you guys color easter eggs which of course has it's origin connected to a Satanic fertility ritual???

Let me know how it works out for you. My first pair has the dividing line too low, so I have to lift up my head too much. It's uncomfortable. But I never could persuade myself that I would be able to find my reading glasses while somebody was shooting at me, so I either had to wear them all the time or hope that my point shooting would work. And my "Serious" or "business" guns all have Big Dot sights which I can see almost sufficiently w/o specs

Brother

ἀδελφός

adelphos
ad-el-fos'

From G1 (as a connective particle) and δελφύς delphus (the womb); a brother (literally or figuratively) near or remote (much like [H1]): - brother

Cousin

συγγενής

suggenēs
soong-ghen-ace'

From G4862 and G1085; a relative (by blood); by extension a fellow countryman: - cousin, kin (-sfolk, -sman).

Seems Brother means, Brother...And,
Cousins means, cousin...
