Your hubby must be a lot more saintly than I.
Even when I do it very politely with lots of doumentation and db readings . . . I'm still railed at.
One pastor saying "I don't have what it takes to be your pastor."
Of course, he was later ran out of town for screwing around on his wife . . . but first I was the bad guy for even imagining that the volume level should be withing OSHA standards for health reasons.
And there's 2 other churches in town like tha one on that issue--at least. Sheesh.
When one sits in the back of a large auditorium with industrial strength ear plugs in . . . and it's still painful--something is very wrong.
I think the problem is . . . these characters were reared on hard rock music . . . now, 20-40 years later, the effects are starting to show up. So they have to have it as loud as a jet engine literally just to hear it at all.
AMEN. Let's hope many of our FReepers will be on that same journey as well (to heaven that is).
Quix is one of the most humble people on FR. Many could follow his example. He's also very wise and tolerant of fools.
I didn't know your tagline was speaking in tongues, P-Marlowe.
Our church is not a huge auditorium and our musicians have been taught not to blare us out but that's controlled mostly in the back. Fortunately, I can turn down my hearing aid if I have to (smile). I'm sorry your pastor was such a dunce. I think you're right about their being brought up in the age of loud and raucous music though. There HAS to be a balance.
I also hate it when I go to a function like a nice wedding reception and the DJ plays so loud you can't talk to anyone. Grrrr.
He IS a saint. He's married to ME so he must be! I'm a high maintenance woman!

I agree entirely. And speak up. . . . though it rarely matters.
Well, high maintenance or not, I'm sure you're worth it.
I imagine it is confusing being on the wrong side.
And which side is the wrong side? The Pope's or the Cardinal's?
But let's try this again.
You have failed to get the Latin title correct which is its own interesting set-up for what follows, i.e. a list of quotes from men who made up their own interpretations and traditions, their own religion, having no continuity with the Holy Spirit's work from the Ascension of the Blessed Lord and His Session at the right hand of the Eternal Father up to this very moment. A veritable list of hemi-, demi-, semi, and certifiable antichrists.
Yours.
Thanks.
Likewise, dear Sister.
Though . . . LOL, given your well earned stature and example hereon, I'm ofte inclined to call you
Dear Mother Superior!
I think the cardinal may well be referring to wealth redistribution in the power & money grabbing form of social programs, implemented in the name of "helping" the children/poor/disadvantaged/desinfranchized/elderly/various skin pigmentations/etc. It sounds to me like he's referring to "good projects" that might be very much along the lines of Thomas Sowell's excellent "Vision of the Annointed: Self-Congratulation as a Basis for Social Policy" self-annointed humanist socialists who think humans can evolve past the fall (and those, perhaps including Mrs. Rodham Clinton, who know better but work the angle for personal power & gain).
That doesn't mean the Popes are.
Didn't the last Pope increase the number of Cardinals because the 'liberal' wing of the RCC had so many members who rejected the Deity of Christ (such as Carlos Martani-bible corrupter.)
You are correct that the Son of Perdition will be a real man as will the False Prophet, who I believe will be the Pope, forming a false trinity (Satan, Anti-Christ, False Prophet) Rev.16:13
Good article thanks for posting!
I'll be sure and warn all fools to beware. :-)
