In all seriousness, spiritual discernment IS lost until regeneration. I think we catholics can agree to that. The doctrine of prevening grace does not mean one has the gift of spiritual discernment, merely that one is capable of having good works done through them. If I were an unbelieving policeman in a society of just laws, my upholding of those laws would be just, but the good works were done by the Christians who created such laws, and left to non-believers, the laws would decay.

Yes, it is. Even my Presbyterian mother would laugh.
I'll change my comment to "Above average religious grammar jokes."

I always get a kick out of the enormous, closely-argued, meticulously written defenses of five-point Calvinism one can find on the web and, sometimes, on FreeRepublic.
The thing is, if the writers of such works really believe it, who are they trying to convince?
(And this from me, a guy who believes in Reform theology...)

Ping for later because Gamecock's article was a long one!

Let no prating Pelagian here allege that God obviates this rudeness or stupidityTry calling Algodore or Blade or that other guy a "prating Pelagian," and see where it gets you. Especially if you tell them there's no way God will obviate their rudeness or stupidity, unless they no there homophones and use apostrophes correctly.

I don't have any interest in being regenerated by John Calvin, sorry.
I prefer Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
