JUST CALLED THAT OFFICE
to thank the Good Bishop for standing against the destructive forces so common in the Democratic party and left that message with the wonderfully pleasant gal answering the phone.
We need to affirm voices for sanity, life, patriotism, anti-globalism.

I agree. If he wasn't a priest, I'd be urging him to run for office.
It's also refreshing to find a religious subject that Catholic and non-Catholic FReepers seem to agree on.

So long as we no longer mired in Lincolnism and so long as we understand which forms of "contraception" are actually abortifacient.

It would not be wise for Cardinal McPhony to pick a fight with Bishop Doran who is also one of only seven members of the Church's supreme court: The Signatura which has jurisdiction over McPhony, over the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and over every other Catholic.

these unholy sacraments of our secular culture are the seeds of the destruction of our nation. He said that the continuance in office of those espousing them represent a clear and present danger to the survival of the US as a nation. ...what nation that kills its young, perverts marriage, prevents new life, and destroys the family, kills those deemed useless, makes the war of the sexes into a real war, and manipulates the genetic basis of human nature, can long endure?
Who can argue with him?
He writes that while looking askance at the German people for their historical role in the deaths of 50 million people during the Nazi period, we in North America have blinded ourselves to the deaths of 40 million of unborn citizens since 1973. No doubt, he says, we shall soon outstrip the Nazis in doing human beings to death.
Yet the same people who accuse the Church of being "silent" during WWII, denounce the Church for speaking out against this modern holocaust.

Yet the same people who accuse the Church of being "silent" during WWII, Those people are simply repeating crap they have heard from somebody else, they have no idea how untrue it is.
Most people are stunned when they are shown proof that nearly 50 million lives have been take by the abortofascists in the past 33 years.

And in post 16, Aliska accuses the GOP of killing the elderly and disabled.Terri Schiavo ordered starved to death under the watch of Rep. Florida Governor Jeb Bush; devoid of moral capital necessary to stop that heinous ruling.

The bishop's column is excellent, but it makes no reference to either political party. Probably because he fears risking losing the Church's 501c(3) status. Regardless, it's probably a good pastoral policy. The Church should be more concerned with teaching the principles of good governance rather than getting involved with specific personalities.

How about because the Church understands its moral authority and how to exercise it wisely. Well yeah, but there's a reason why names are never named from the pulpit. At least I've never heard any names mentioned in my 40+ years as a Catholic.

An must-read for Illinois Freepers And why not for voters in other states? Congratulations and God Bless to Bishop Doran for his clear, no-nonsense words.
May the rest of the Bishops follow his lead.

And you think it's about protecting 501c3 status (which probably didn't exist 40+ years ago) and couldn't possibly be a result of an exercise of propriety?

I had no idea that there was such a body as the Signatura, and I am grateful for it.(I wish that they'd taken some action against Bishop WEAKland when he was in power!)

Dear the invisible hand,
If I recall correctly, it was in the 1950s that the IRS adopted rules forbidding explicit partisan political activity by churches.
