Seriously, can you please quit representing the Catholic Church by the bizarre rantings of some heretics who claim to be actually Catholic?

Catholic theologians commonly say that, in virtue of the dignity conferred upon Christ's human nature by the Hypostatic Union, even the smallest injury suffered by him was sufficient for the redemption of the world. St. Thomas writes: "The very least one of Christ's sufferings was sufficient of itself to redeem the human race from all sins; but as to fittingness, it sufficed that He should endure all classes of sufferings, as stated above" (Summa Theologiae, III q. 46 a. 5 ad 3). As Pope Clement VI put it back in 1343:

The only begotten Son of God . . . "made unto us from God, wisdom, justice, sanctification and redemption" [I Cor. 3], "neither by the blood of goats or of calves, but by His own blood entered once into the holies having obtained eternal redemption" [Heb. 9:12]. "For not with corruptible things as gold or silver, but with the precious blood of His very (Son) as of a lamb unspotted and unstained He has redeemed us" [cf. I Pet. 1:18-9], who innocent, immolated on the altar of the Cross is known to have poured out not a little drop of blood, which however on account of union with the Word would have been sufficient for the redemption of the whole human race, but copiously as a kind of flowing stream ... (Bull Unigenitus Dei Filius)

Not a new thread? Please.

I'm not gong there. I could care less. Frankly, I cannot stand the NIV. Not because God cannot use it, but because I simply don't like it. I prefer the German Luther Bible.

It's a Catholic, Satan and a Jew.

It's hateful bigotry.

You really ought to be using "Thee's" and "Thou's"

All Bibles should.

First, let us establish that "thee and thou, etc." are *NOT* archaic or obsolete English. This is clear from the fact that everybody knows what they mean. Now if you want to try some archaic, or "olde Englishe" try Chaucer as originally written.

Second, let us establish that "thee and thou" were *NEVER* common street English, including that of Queen Elizabeth I and King James I. Neither are they the equivalent of "du" in German. That is, they are not familiar as opposed to formal.

Rather, "thee and thou" are *poetic* forms used in religious language and love poetry! Every language including the Hebrew of the Psalms has special poetic forms (see Gesenius' _Hebrew Grammar_, sect. 2,q-r; etc.).

Blue moon, you saw me standing alone
Without an umlaut to use, without a keyboard of my own

(And isn't it rather self-serving that this has been brought up by BLUE-duncan??? Do I smell a conspiracy?)

All Bibles should.

Well the German Luther Bible doesn't. And neither do the original manuscripts.

BTW are you literate in Greek and Hebrew?

My suggestion to anyone that seeks to harass me because of the way I speak, find something more Christlike to do with your time.

No one is harassing you about the way you speak Full Court. Please don't try to play the victim card again.

It's hateful bigotry.

Do me a favor, if you want to start a thread on that, please by all means do so. But please do not ascribe untrue motives to me.

Why would a Jewish person be holding up a Bible?

I would hazard a guess and say that the guy in the suit represents the modernist preacher.

For what it is worth, I am not a Biblical scholar...

You don't have to be.

It's a comforting story, but the connection to 6 other English translation "purified 7 times" is purified mysticism and not logically connected to the Psalms scripture.

They scanned an old KKK tract and put in the NIV stuff. It's a Jewish caricature.

I don't believe that one bit. Especially since the person who owns that site is black.

"Do I smell a conspiracy?"

Don't even think of messing with me. I'm half way through the 4th season of "24" and have almost earned my CTU badge and secret download code. I'm pretty sure the code will be given during the next session and then I will be able to send an umlaut through one of your posts back to your computer and it will multiply little umlauts all over the place.

Jack and I are just like this

You really need to find a better site for your research. Do you believe all the nonsense on that site? Is that where you get all your unique ideas? That site seems to be dedicated to telling you everything that is wrong with the way everyone else thinks, but offers nothing but pharisaical legalism and hate as an alternative.

If you want to try some more mainstream sites for theology and research, try looking at my forum page. It also has some pretty good links for music and guitar lessons.
