If CTD says someone is not a hyper-Calvinist, that pretty much setles the matter. ;-)

LOL!

For God's sake, I feel like hurling just writing that sentence!

LOLOLOL!!! The funniest part of that sentence is imagining your face as you typed it. >8~(

Here's more than you want to know from an encyclopedia...

HOLY PREPUCE

And here's Ian Paisley's take on all of it.

RELICS OF ROMANISM

The relevancy of all this information is to remind us that the body passes away; and what remains and what matters is spirit.

How about you?

I have been known to worship with Catholics, Pentecostals, Disciples of Christ, Christian Missionary, Methodists (yes, even them), and a host of other denominations. As long as they believe in the Trinity, believe that it is through God's precious son, our Lord Jesus, that we obtain grace and mercy and are redeemed, and we must confess our sins; then that's it for me.

I can't help their weird beliefs as they can't help mind. If they want to sing one chorus 27 times to the tune of bagpipes (b-d forgive me) then who am I to say otherwise. It's kind of goofy if you ask me but, hey, that's me.

Given that, I think blood represents both life and death in that it is only through the shed blood and death of Christ that his believers can have eternal life.

But it has already been shed. The author of the article and some of the posters here seem to think that the shedding of blood is an ongoing process; that there is literally a big bowl of blood up in heaven that will be used to literally wash away our sins.

I agree with our Calvinist friends that our sins were washed away on Mount Calvary. The work was finished there.

I wonder how many Christians here also use the NIV?

None.

Just kidding...sort of... 8~)

Bible literalists are irritating. Some parts of the Bible are intended to be taken literally, but not all.

That's the truth. Sometimes I'll sneak a peak at the NIV to contrast or compare. But I have the good sense to keep it quiet. 8~)

You know (though I probably don't have to tell you), that's the kind of stuff that led to Luther's ineluctable fate. Calvin was definitely the intellectual heft behind the Reformation, IMO, but Luther was the force of will and culmination of a couple of centuries worth of WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?

Can you imagine having undergone the rigors of monasticism, and then to become really well acquainted with the word of God, and then having to reconcile such things? Where was God, really, in these machinations? He was half-buried as Calvin said, he was suffused in the economics of the relics industry, and it's my understanding that the relics industry ranked well enough as part of the 'gross national product' in the day.

Bagpipes make me cry.

You and all the enemies of Great Britain. Those bagpipes used to bring terror to the hearts of Britain's enemies, knowing that the most powerful army on the earth was within earshot and moving closer.

They don't necessarily make me cry but boy do they make me melancholy. They do something that hearkens back to the antiquity of my soul.

Remember Braveheart?, 'outlawed tunes played on outlawed pipes.'

My grandfather had three older brothers die at Gallipoli. He would tell us about the sounds of the bagpipes playing while the fighting raged on. Then he would tear up, and so now I tear up.

Amen, HarleyD! My list is nearly identical to yours, save that I'll add a Greek Orthodox, a couple of Lutheran, Nazarene, Evangelical Free, and non-denom "restoration" churches to mine. As long as they believe in the Trinity, believe that it is through God's precious son, our Lord Jesus, that we obtain grace and mercy and are redeemed, and we must confess our sins; then that's it for me as well. If they can handle an opinionated Postmil Reformed Calvinist, I can certainly handle them :D

Harley and Dr. E, I know you've seen this before, but for the others who possibly haven't, and for the ultimate in determining if you're a hyper-Calvinist, please visit Il Purgatorio!

Apparently, according to that test, I'm going to hell. I'm still a huge Derek Webb fan. ;-)

Change that to "opinionated amil Reformed Calvinist" and you've got me.
