For what it's worth, there must be millions of bits of the True Cross out there; put them all together and you could build a stadium. If you ask me, anyone who buys a splinter deserves to be ripped off; this scam goes back to the Middle Ages.
My favorite historical theft involved a hatchet that originally belonged to George Washington: The handle's been replace four times and and the ax-head's been replaced three times.
