Thank you
1- the church tried to persuade the Univ to donate the documents to the Church. Yes
2- Then it toyed with a legal ploy but I think gave it up when it realized it would not get anywhere in the courts at all. Yes
3- Then, they sent members to try and steal the docs. most likely misguided individual members
after all I am sure the improtants was that they existed and notarized copies could have been done!
When Turley book comes any existing documents will be talked about!
Don't forget the documents in private hands (mine).... If the Church doesn't come clean, there will be documents that will surface that will be embarrassing to them.
I thought in memory of Brigham Young, Polygamy Porter only came in 27 packs.
Ha! :-) But some of the bottles are full bodied, some are flat, some have already been tasted, some like #19 are totally missing, and most have flipped the lid.
Ok that makes sense then. IOW the six packs are really 27 packs with all the unworthy bottles being purged. Only those bottles that are worthy (that have kept the laws and ordinances of the brewery, that have gone through the secret ritual brewing process and have been married to their labels for time and eternity) ever actually make it to the third shelf in the Celestial beer cooler.
LOL
Gee would it have not been kinder to Fanchers if this iron clad knowledge came forward?
2- If the Church doesn't come clean, there will be documents that will surface that will be embarrassing to them."
...Bagley and Krakauer's source?
Some how it all seems bedeviling...
Interesting. This may be a different massacre. Was it about 120-150 people or therabouts? or 75? I forget. And I thought that it took place pretty close to Lee's Ferry.
I don't know if the NAU Special Collections Library still has the docs or not. THEY SURE SHOULD HAVE. But that's been 1969 that I last had anything to do with them. And I know when the Special Collections moved to the new building that the ALDERDICE COLLECTION (of very conservative stuff) was evidently shredded or moved to the main library and lost as a collection contrary with the legal agreement it was received under.
Anyway--should be an interesting book.
Thanks.
Not necessarily. I'm giving the Church the oppotunity to do the right thing (They have copies of the originals that I have) If they choose to ignore the obvious - they can be shown to be the fabricators they are. I'm sure they'll deny having knowlege that copies of the documents are in their possession, but as you know, when something is donated to the Church Archives, it is always officially recieved by one in authority and signed by a letter of acknowledgement. It's all pretty cut and dried - they better be open and honest. I pray that they will, but we'll wait and see.
Oh and BTW they will never, never get their hands on the original copies...that has been well taken care of.
like I said this all sounds bedeviling but what else do I expect from the opposition!
2 Nephi 2:11
11 For it must needs be, that there is an opposition in all things. If not so, my first-born in the wilderness, righteousness could not be brought to pass, neither wickedness, neither holiness nor misery, neither good nor bad. Wherefore, all things must needs be a compound in one; wherefore, if it should be one body it must needs remain as dead, having no life neither death, nor corruption nor incorruption, happiness nor misery, neither sense nor insensibility.
How does a thread like this come to life after 5 months? lol
And I just happened to find it too. I don't think I even posted on it before.
I'm not sure. I guess posters were speculating about the release of the movie, if a distributor can be found.
All who are interested in the Mountain Meadows Massacre are also waiting for the publication of the official "non-official" Church rendition which was scheduled to be published in 2003. It looks like the date has been pushed back to 2007 at the earliest. It must be a much more daunting task to look at all the documents the Church has in relation to the tragedy than the Church Historian had initially thought.
I was asked by Torie and colorcountry to notify them if I heard anything about Richard Turley's book being published. I couldn't remember the thread, so I posted the information here. That's all.
Thanks for your kind comments the other night cc. I've been under the weather for about 10 days now. I'm staying in for the weekend. :)
