Very good questions !
Not that the questions are not good, and not that I wouldn't love to hear the answers.
Liberal Jews must turn their faces back to Jerusalem--but it won't be the evangelicals who do this. I hope the conservative Jews can--
I am afraid that GW will be the last pro-Israel president.
I listen to the Dennis prager show & he makes these points often. He is Jewish & led the fight to keep the cross on the Los Angeles Seal. There are growing numbers of conservative jews.
Being of Catholic background I am not aware of all the ins and outs of Evangelica-Jewish relations. I know Evangelicals are very supportive of the state of Israel, maybe a few other things. What irks me in that relationship is the sometimes oversensitivity of Jews at the mention of the name of Jesus and the sometime pigheadedness of Evangelicals of a little too zealous to evangelize, or praying in a specifically Christian manner at public interdenominational functions where a more generalized prayer would be more appropriate. There has to be give and take on both sides. I really don't want to segue on all kinds of tangents here. At the end of the day believing Jews and Christians have to be on the same side against activist atheists who want to obliterate God (no matter how generally invoked) from all facets of public life.
Eric Yoffie is a jerk, to put it nicely. OTOH, I'm not much of a fan of Jerry Falwell either.
Dennis Prager bump! The Jew who joys in bringing straying Methodists back to Methodism, Catholics to Catholicism....people to God.
I appreciate the bump, but the author of the posted article is David Klinghoffer, not Dennis Prager.
That alleged "1.5 million" is dwindling rapidly, due to intermarriage, apathy, abortion, gayness, and failure to reproduce.
FRmail me to be added or removed from this Judaic/pro-Israel/Russian Jewry ping list.
Warning! This is a high-volume ping list.
A quick hello and a ping to an article you may have an opinion about. ;-)
I hope everything is going well for you and SCGOP.
Harshly attacking opposition to gay marriage, Yoffie remarked, We cannot forget that when Hitler came to power in 1933, one of the first things that he did was ban gay organizations.
That's funny. The gays once organized themselves into a political power. That time and place is called Nazi Germany.
And not a one about Torah.
I read this article in the magazine yesterday. This was my pick for the best question!
ERIK YOFFIE, SHOOTING DOWN THE JEWISH FUTURE
---------------------------
WHO DARES QUESTION MY GENIUS?
Appropriate for whom??? You certainly are not referring to God...To use your word, every one of the Apostles was Pig Headed, to the extreme...They intructed Christians to evangelize...Jesus intructed us to evangelize...
If you are a born again Christian, filled with the Holy Spirit, you can not help but evangelize...It is your new nature...
Six Questions for Jews--From Christians
And not a one about Torah.
Unfortunately, when Jewish "spokesmen" (self-appointed or otherwise) address non-Jews, it very seldom has anything to do with Torah. However, in the spirit of satire and parody, I shall pose six "questions" about actual Jewish observance and answer them with the answers most conventionally given by Jewish "spokesmen" (self-appointed or otherwise). To wit:
1)Why do Orthodox Jewish men wear beards?
A.To symbolize religious liberty.
2)Why do Orthodox Jewish women wear wigs?
A.To symbolize religious liberty.
3)Why is the significance of tzitziyyot?
A.The tzitziyyot symbolize religious liberty.
4)What does the holiday of Shavu`ot celebrate?
A.Shavu`ot celebrates religious liberty for all people, particularly for gays and atheists.
5)What is the Shemonei `Esrei?
A.A series of nineteen blessings recited thrice daily, each one expressing thanks for religious liberty.
6)Why do Jews beat the hosha`-na' bundle on Hosha`-na' Rabbah?
A.To demonstrate righteous anger at bigoted Southern Baptist dictators like Antiochus who deny religious liberty to minorities, particularly gays and atheists.
Well--that's just about the standard line!
Uh...It was for #5's poster. Though I surely appreaciate the ping as much. Thanks!
