Pinging you.
THis was recently posted.
"And in a subsequent part of his work he says, that 'It makes no difference whether the God who is over all things be called by the name of Zeus, which is current among the Greeks, or by that, e.g., which is in use among the Indians or Egyptians,' ... when the name of Zeus is uttered, there is heard at the same time that of the son of Kronos and Rhea, and the husband of Hera, and brother of Poseidon, and father of Athene, and Artemis, who was guilty of incest with his own daughter Persephone; or that Apollo immediately suggests the son of Leto and Zeus, and the brother of Artemis, and half-brother of Hermes; and so with all the other names invented by these wise men of Celsus, who are the parents of these opinions, and the ancient theologians of the Greeks" (Origen, Against Celsus, I, 24-25).
Yeah, I searched before posting but didn't see that this had been posted under a different title. I noticed about a minute later.
Oh wonderful Admin Mod, would you mind closing this thread and linking to the other thread?

Is the speaker Muslim or Catholic? If he's Catholic, how can they even remotely appear to be endorsing Islam, whether it's the "peaceful" kind or not?
For some reason these remarks aren't posted at the Catholic University website. The king's 9/13/05 address is there but no remarks by McCarrick.
He's Catholic, shame to us, and my former bishop. Of the sleek and skinny variety. I would like to see a bishop who wasn't sleek for a change, with holiness and principles far outshining his political skills.
NO English speaking Christian should pander to the Muslims by calling God Allah.
Mrs VS
And why does the good cardinal think "people of the Book" is a complementary and tolerant phrase?
He's alleged to be Roman Catholic. He's a Cardinal after all.
The link above is to the comments by Cardinal McCarrick. They were addressed to the King and the audience.
I went to the CUA website as well. The comments aren't listed on the public affairs page. But the link still works.
Verrrrry interesting. Only thing I can think of is after Cardinal McCarrick's comments were published on CWNews, to withering disdain I might add, the public affairs folks at CUA yanked it from their list of speeches.
That was also my first thought. Perhaps they got one or two polite but firm emails. (Or thousands of frightening rants.) And showed the courage of their convictions by hiding the evidence. Like the Soviets airbrushing photographs.
The king's speech seems to have more integrity than the Cardinal's fawning.
I applaud your response/defense of the singularity of the salvation found in Jesus Christ :)
Major GAG alert! I'm talking about a serious dose of Pepto, followed by a Alka-Seltzer chasher! If "traditional islam" is "the path to peace", then the moon is made of green cheese and will be sliced up by an angel and put on a tray with crackers and wine!
Who's "we", Kemosabe?
Ain't that the truth!!!! That carpetbagging heathen "cardinal" praying in the name of a demon!!! Memo to "cardinal" full-of-beans: Bubbe, maybe you pray to allah, but I don't, and neither do Catholics. Maybe allah is your "god", but he sure the h-e-double-toothpicks ain't mine! In a word, Your-Not-at-all-an-Emminence, allahu fubar!
Sometimes I think "christians" like McCarrick, who call islam a "religion of peace" and similar looniness, are a bigger threat to all Christians (and Jews) than the radical muslims who want to force us to convert to their heathenism or be beheaded. If "tradtional islam" (convert or be killed) is "the path to peace", then the moon is made of green cheese and will fall into a big fondue pot tonight! Allahu Fubar!
Of course they are. Enemies "within", like this guy
always are. The Mohammedans who want to kill us can only hurt our bodies, men like Cardinal McCarrick can lead souls into hell.
