Jeeze, that is sick! Between the "statue" (blasphemous trash "art") and these "meditations", I wouldn't blame Our Lady if Jesus allowed her to come down and smash the "statue" and take a large hickory switch to a few backsides! Bloody d**ned heathens bringing in occultic garbage and trashing my Mother.........gets my vinegar up!

Is that naked Mary supposed to look crucified?
How absolutely disgusting. I can't believe that anyone would walk into a church with that trash there!

Putting aside the statue, meditation and stretching exercises in and of themselves are not evil. However, practices such as yoga, wihin a Catholic setting, do open the door to a relativism and wrongheaded idea of ecumenism.
I've been wondering if there was a good form of Catholic meditation that is in the vein of yoga-type stretching, but have come to realzie that the Rosary is a great form of meditation in the very truest sense of the word.

i've thought of simply saying Lord Jesus as I breathe and meditate but I decided prayer has to be the primary intention, not relaxation, peace, low blood pressure or whatever. No matter how good they might be in themselves.

I went to the Church of the Resurrection's website, and took the Virtual Tour-blccchhh!
Their spiel/blurbs..Individual chairs, rather than pews eschews the individual dignity of each person, and other such dreck...blccchhh!
And the picture of their scary Mary-her mouth looks like she's howling or blowing--I think it's really supposed to be the Earth Goddess, but they just lied and said it's the BVM.

I practice yoga almost everyday. I watch it on television 'Wai lana' as a matter of fact. I've never attended a class mostly because the teacher fancies him/herself to be God-like guru instead of how yoga can improve my health. I used to be a student of reiki but have abandoned that practice because I found it to be in conflict with my personal faith. The classes aside, this statue is disgusting that's reason enough alone not to attend.

Meanwhile, Cleveland has been a hotbed for what is known as "Future Church," an organization that seeks to bring women and married priests into the mainstream.

When you say the rosary, you're doing that anyway. It's hard to be angry with bulging neck veins after saying the joyful mysteries :-)

Agreed that prayer is the primary intention of saying a rosary or meditation. But at the same time, it has the wonderful secondary effect of offering a time of calm, balancing one's self, and clearing of the mind. It's a hectic world out there. The reason though, that I mentioned the Rosary specifically because I've found that the "mechanics" of it are actually quite relaxing yet meditational.

I wonder...if you used chant as background music rather than the funky electric piano and synthesizer stuff.
