What I've seen and heard from libs is that they value Jesus' words as a great moral teacher (not as the authoritative Word of God, mind you). But anything anybody else says in the Bible is discounted as just words said by some other guy (like Paul). "Jesus never said anything about homosexuality," they say.
The real irony to me is that they accuse conservative Christians of cherry picking the Bible verses they like in order to bolster their views, yet the libs really do it in spades! They cross out passages dealing with Jesus' deity because they just don't "fit" their views.

I'm sorry for the DU stuff on this thread. It can be a shock to read "cold" without any sort of warning. The DUers operate in an alternate universe and peeking into their way of thinking can cause symptoms in conservatives such as head and stomach aches, muscle cramps (from excessive laughter), and wide-eyed disbelief.
Take a visit to DU-- if you dare! :-)

You're welcome. It's funny, some of the stuff on there is as dated as an old Laugh-In rerun.

Call the local diocesan office of the Episcopal Church or the local synodical office of the ELCA Lutherans and ask them for the name of their most liberal congregation. There's a tremendous range in both of these "big tent" denominations. I'd actually like to do this in my diocese for purposes of counter-intelligence.

The DU thread is amazingYes, their thinking is truly breathtaking (and not in a good way). It is puzzling how we can grow up in the same country and yet have such different worldviews.
