Erasing differences between sexes has been a marxist project since way before the 60's.
There is a wonderful satire by Bulgakov on the bolshevik vision of the new man, "A Dog's Heart". It is a short novel of a physiology professor who creates a man out of a dog. The man comes out surprisingly modern with an instant grasp of the revolutionary ideals of Communism. The professor, however, is a man of the past, who likes his breakfast and his Beethoven just right. A tream of leather-clad comissars come to his door in order to expropriate his apartment (he beats them off pointing to his important research work). As the door opens, he greets them thus:
- Before I talk to any of you about anything, which of you is a woman?
- Er. I am, -- comes a sheepish answer.
- Take a seat.
