i also have experienced Methodist liturgy (this was quite traditional) and relized the similar parallels between this and the Novus Ordo liturgy.

You are right, of course. Today, there is little sense of history unless it can be massaged to justify current thinking and actions. For example, anything before JPII is dull and deficient if it takes the spotlight off him, forever the actor. Tradition has to be continually reinterpreted to prevent it becoming the Church again. What matters is today .... or maybe the values of tomorrow.

The one that I know of off the top of my head is dropping all deuterocanonical OT readings from the lectionary. There are others, too, but you'd have to get a 1979 BCP and compare it to the NO to see them all.

I didn't know that JPII and you were such close personal friends. You sure do know a lot about his intentions.

What I was writing about was the general understanding of "newsworthiness" of course and HAD NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with your response.

But rash judgment will be rewarded in the end, especially about the Pope, I am quite certain.

1996 isn't news, either, Mr. Journalist.

Well, I have some hot news for your hungry friends. There are only two more popes to go ... and one will be bumped off.

.... and since Michael Davies predicted a sainthood for the Archbishop I would suggest you bathe yourself in his wisdom. Forget Karol, go for Marcel. Could be a winner!
