Thank you for your reply and for sharing your concerns! I thank God for any presence of non-believers - by Lurking or by Freeping - in a discussion like this. I see it as an opportunity. After all, many of the science types do not mingle on contentious and technical theology threads.
The best you will be able to accomplish, is to reinvent the wheel that Aristotle rolled, showing Reason to be man's ultimate accomplishment.
Actually, quite to contrary - most of the math and science reasoning in the body article is Platonist and not Aristotlean. For instance, Aristotle would see geometry as an invention of the mathematician to explain nature - whereas Plato would see the mathematician coming along and discovering the geometry in nature. Plato points up, Aristotle points down, etc.
betty boop knows more about Plato than anyone else known to me. And PatrickHenry has a really terrific painting I hope he will post here which rather sums up the difference between the two Greek philosophers very well.

Well, for one thing, there is a heavenly host that we know praises him day and night. Plus, they're holy, more suited to His nature. It was only His kindness that gave you or any of us, life.

Without people to spread his word...who will hear it? Hence, he created humankind to spread his word.

I like that you know the parable about tilling the soil. You have gone up 10 points.
Spread the Word-- well yes, the Plan of Salvation is the thing

Actually, quite to contrary - most of the math and science reasoning in the body article is Platonist and not Aristotlean. Believe it or not, many of us do know the difference between Aristotelian philosophy and Platonism.
Many of your unbelievers and quite a few believers, are not too fond of Plato. I suspect many of them have come to the conclusion that Reason, is their ultimate achievement.

We are asking Freepers to contribute their own, personal, moments of standing in awe. A Texas sized sunrise and sunset does it for me, but then, I'm just a red state, knuckle draggin' bumpkin.

So very true!!! That is actually where the conversation first began on another thread. My assertion was that ego is at the very core of rebellion against God. For instance, Satan forsook his wisdom for the sake of his splendor - and Adam put his own (or perhaps Eve's) interest above God - and Eve was tempted by the serpent's reasoning.
Anything - including his own reasoning - that a man puts above God will land him immediately outside the Great Commandment (Matthew 22) to love God with all of our heart, mind, soul, strength and understanding.
Thanks for the thought-provoking reply!

The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science." The mysterious what, exactly? AG, I assume that you believe in good and evil, or maybe you do not. If you do, how can mysterious evil be the source of anything true, other than itself?
