"His Crusades are for healings that is my understanding..."
No, they are for fraudulent fake-healing scams designed to milk desperate families out of the last of their precious financial resources and the last of their waning moments with their loved ones. Those who twist the Word to deceive and steal deserve a very special hellfire.

Jeeze, Thanks for the clairifacation. I thought that I was pretty clear I guess not. ;-) What do Benny Hinn and John Edwards have in common? Answer.. People who are emotionally in distress flock to them for help and answers and both end up costing you money. I bet Jesus did not charge people to do those things.

Don't get me wrong. I agree with you that God can perform miraculous healings, and that many have medical documentation to back them up. However, I don't believe a single one of Hinn's so-called miracles has ever been so verified, and I don't believe God performs miracles according to a TV broadcast schedule. Hinn long ago demonstrated himself to fall into the false prophet/teacher camp.

Mr. Hinn lives in a multi-million dollar house that he made his organization pay for; Some kind of 'spiritual' center. Dateline did a hidden camera expose on Mr. Hinn awhile back, to see how he picks who goes up on stage. They also interviewed some people regarding 'healings';a couple people thought they had in fact been 'healed'. The majority of interviews were done with family members of 'healed' people who were shortly thereafter deceased.
I have heard that the reason people fall over like that is because of mass-hypnotism, either that or the principle of self-fulfillment, whereby a person believes he is supposed to 'feel' something; so he convinces himself that he 'feels' it.
My point, I guess, is that Mr. Hinn has gotten very rich off of Jesus Christ. If he loves Jesus so much, where's the sacrifice? Why the fancy suits, the media-hogging, the big house?
The biggest problem I have with Mr. Hinn is that he, and other 'healers' put a big emphasis on praying over people and fixing them. As in, we're going to invoke the Holy Spirit over your deformed leg, and you're gonna get up and walk away.
If the person DOESN'T get up, then that person must have a 'demon'. Or that person must not 'really believe.'
Its a denial of the merits of suffering, of how suffering can be a sign of sanctity. Suffering can be a GIFT. A good thing that can benefit people. Its not meaningless. Thats why Jesus did what he did; to make our suffering MEAN something. But there's none of that in Benny Hinn. Its all about getting rid of this horrible pain which must be a curse from God. What about the cross? What about "you mustn't take away my little cross"? Fans of the Little Flower will know what I'm talking about.
People can believe what they want to believe. But it is a privilege beyond any other privilege to suffer; to be so close to Christ that He permits you to endure a small part of what He did on the cross. Running a Christian ministry and brushing that under the rug is just plain wrong.

Cold reading is a pretty fun thing to do to people. A cousin of mine taught me how to do it one summer, and I spent a few months using it on my friends.
If you know the tricks, you can turn it around on them. Great fun at country fairs.

RIght. If Hinn can heal, why doesn't he spend his time in children's hospitals and ICUs rather than on stage collecting cash?

Sorry if this is rude, but for many English people, when you put the words "American" and "Christian" together, the mental image they get is Benny Hinn.
Is he really that popular over there, or do most people think he's a fruitcake?
To: redgolum
I'm doing it at the Festival this season, and am quite looking forward to it. I'm honing my skills on gullible co-workers, and earning quite a name for being far-seeing.

Benny Hinn is of Palestinian descent, is he not? Perhaps he could take his act to the Gaza Strip and show solidarity with his brethren.

Not that popular and not as popular as he was but popular enough to rake in enough money to live in fairly opulent conditions.
Tele-evangelists have a lot to answer for, in my opinion. Big hair, big teeth, big voices, big smiles and big money. Sometimes big scandal, too.
They've transmitted an image of Christianity (and America) which is extravagant and circus-like which is no doubt what you were referring to.

Sorry if this is rude, but for many English people, when you put the words "American" and "Christian" together, the mental image they get is Benny Hinn. It's unfortunate but plenty of Americans get the same imagery. IMO most thinking people - whether Christian or not - do not believe he's genuine, or are at least uncomfortable with his message. I don't have a problem with praying for sick people. I have a problem with his theology and his showmanship.
