Individual happiness is only found when one pleases God - therefore, God's happiness is the soul's only real happiness. Not that the soul and God are the same - they are always individuals, one Supreme and one subordinate. But only when I please God, will I ever feel any real happiness.

Additionally, God is pleased when we care about the happiness of His souls. If we don't care about the real happiness of others, He isn't pleased with us.

So I agree!

Scandalized bump

Question:
How does this syncretism jibe with Our Lady's prophecy that "In Portugal, the dogma of the Faith will always be preserved, etc.?"

The Fiath is still there. AAn example, the SSPX clerics and the faithful laity of Portugal protested the desecrations.

Our Lady said "the Dogma of the Faith," not just "faithfulness" in general. It impies right teaching by Church authorities to the population at large.

Granted, this incident is one of praxis, not dogma, but it is still "teaching" sycretism to the people of Portugal.

If Our Lady meant only that there would be a handful of people in Portugal who knew proper dogma, how is Portugal any different from the US, Rome, France, or Timbuktu?

Believe it or not despite our differences here, in the long run I view you and the other person I pinged to be on "our side" as well.

You're what I classify as "Deep Catholics". Whether traditional, orthodox, conservative or whatever, Deep Catholics understand the source of their religion and are very knowledgeable and dedicated to the historical faith, even though such may manifest itself in different ways.

I'm glad to see this statement of yours, AAABEST. I think it's a good sign. Overall, I think you are a reasonable man. Now, if we could get our "bombthrowers" to agree to a cease-fire, we can make some progress. From reading this thread, I think we can all see this is something we can agree on (at least most of us see this is an outrage). Deo gratias!

Yes it is very shocking for "conservative" Catholics. They don't know what to make of it so they are either silent or say it has been exaggerated or the Pope would not allow this if he knew of it when he himself participated in this kind of ecumania which is confusing the public into thinking that "all religions are more or less good and praiseworthy" as Pius XI condemned in Mortalium Animus which the new Vatican documents never quote or even footnote anywhere.

But the conservatives will wake up when they see this garbage go on at the parish level in the big cities. They did it in Michigan- did you read "Booting the Buddhist's Out"? This document below document leads to the joint
Protestant /Roman Catholic Churches which "share" space- condemned before 1960. This document is novel. In over 100 some footnotes only a few are before Vat II
http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/pontifical_councils/chrstuni/documents/rc_pc_chrstuni_doc_25031993_principles-and-norms-on-ecumenism_en.html In this document

These are a few of the tarnished "jewels"

Para 116-119 Shared Non-Sacramental Liturgical Worship. 119 We must watch
out again for the sensibilities of the Clergy of "all Christian
Communities" after all we wouldn’t want to act too Catholic that might
scandalize them like some of the Jews were scandalized by Christ. We must
get together and "share our traditions and understand each others
community prayer" which developed from common roots. Note a "federation
of Christian Communities" concept of the Church is condemned see p.295.
Can not take part in non- Catholic assemblies p. 301.
Para 133 Non- Catholics may now read Scripture during a "Eucharistic
Celebration" What ever happened to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass where
only the priest entered the Holy Sanctuary. Now we have everyone and his
brother and a Protestant one at that! They had a Protestant funeral here
at Holy Family Catholic Church and the Minister was asking people
to come and get saved on the altar! (See Para 138- there will be lots of
bad stuff going on from this hum dinger!) You can not control the
ridiculous and heretical things coming out of a Protestant Minister’s
mouth while he uses a Catholic Church to preach his folly! Which brings
me to...
Para 138 Catholics lend out parish Church to non Catholics & put Jesus in
the cloak room so as not to offend the "sensitivities" of Protestants.
(See quote II and Jn Chapter 6) St. Francis of Assisi, " All those who
have not believed that Jesus Christ is the son of God are doomed. Also
those who see the Sacrament of the Body of Christ and do not believe it
is really the most Holy Body and Blood of the Lord,- these also are
doomed."
Para 150 Non Catholic Spouse no longer has to promise to raise the kids
Catholic (151 proves this) or put it in writing that they will raise
children Catholic.
Para 151 "due respect for the religious freedom and conscience of the
other (non Catholic) parents....." Child may not be raised Catholic
because of this so called freedom and the Catholic parent will not be
censured. (See Quote III, Syllabus of Errors p.29 and pg. 101)
Para 183 Common Bible Studies and Societies condemned. See the Syl. Of
Errors pg.30.
Para 197 Educational institutions will share personnel, library, courses,
research and other resources. In fact it is more ecumenical in Para. 198
When a Catholic School has members of other "ecclesial communities" on
the staff and in their student body- that way the modernist infection
spreads even more. Hey, since the theology now is that Protestants really
are ecclesial communities in an imperfect union with us (Oh well didn’t
von Balthazar say our Church was Holy and a prostitute- seems to
contradict Pius XI statement on p.295 that, the Church is a perfect
society founded by Christ and also on the same page that the modernist’s
think that the visible Church is nothing more than a federation of
Churches.) Do you see that on page 228 Pius X states, "What efforts do
they not make to win new recruits! They seize upon professorships in the
seminaries and universities, and gradually make of them chairs of
pestilence...." Their efforts are so great that they are even placing
Protestant modernists in Catholic Schools and Seminaries with the
permission and at the behest of Cardinal Cassidy and the Vatican!
These changes will be within your local parish in a few years -right sinkspur (?)- especially for the big cities.

That is gross coming from a Reverend of the cloth. What would the animal rights people say - getting your dogs to do your "dirty" work.

Fatima's desecration is a deliberate assault on the Mother of God. Guerra and the Bishop aren't believers and they aren't idiots. They are doing exactly what they were put there to do - destroy the faith in Portugal.

They don't succeed. Our Lady of Fatima has spoken.

Nonetheless, I fully expect it to appear that they have succeeded. Whether it is Buddhist monks at St. Adalbert's or this travesty of anti-Gospel innovation, we can see the enemies of the Church within the Church exposed for all to see.

There are of course those who frequest FR who are planted here to refute everything I've said and to defend every attack on the Mother of God and Holy Mother Church.

Mama, you need to unwind a bit. Sometimes we just have to have a grin or two around here.

Be careful. You pick on dogs, I've got two males, and they can raise their right back legs pretty high.

That must be an ICEL translation endorsed by the National Catholic Reporter.

It's actually a B.A.R.K. translation, endorsed by the Doggie Daily.

Later in the day when I have some time I will explain for those reading this thread what Hinduism actually is, and what the basic message of the Bhagavad Gita is (as someone who has studied it for over 3 decades). Whoever wrote the article hasn't read it or if they did, they must have skipped whole chapters.

I'd be interested in learning what the basic message of the Bhagavad Gita is. You are right about the author. He is a polemicist, not a journalist, so anything you might add to correct his inaccuracies would be appreciated.

I am too young to be your "Mama" Sinkspur. That was a good one Siobhan. Sinkspur doesn't like me although I wish him well. Can I put you Siobhan on my "ping" list? I will not be offended if you say no as Sinkspur can attest to. I had him on my ping list before I knew the etiquette of this Chat room without asking him of which I apologized. You will not offend me if you say no. I got a good chuckle out of your comments.

I like you, pro A. "Mama" is a term of endearment, since you have five of your own.

If you'd cut the length of your posts in half, I'd gladly be on your ping list.
