I thought this was sort of funny, especially the part about the Nasville Catholic Church.

Baptists do not insist on adherence to the traditional creeds of the Christian churches The baptist church I grew up in had lots of creeds... And if the bible mention their rule, they made it up.
"No playing baseball on Sundays... But you can watch other play the sport on Sundays on TV."
"You cannot violate the Sabbath by mowing the grass on Sundays... so we will stay inside and clean the basement."
"Since there is to be no working on Sunday, we will take Mom out to eat so she will not violate the Sabbath commandment. So we will eat in a restaurant where OTHERS violate the Sabbath."

I thought this was sort of funny, especially the part about the Nasville Catholic Church. B-Chan, that was 'Nashville', not 'Nasville'.
Have you gone into Baptist bashing? I'm disappointed. I've defended you on a thread of yours where you were trying to promote Catholic monarchies as the best way of government. Oh well, what's one more disappointment...

No bashing was intended. Sorry if I created that impression. I just thought this was a funny bit of satire.

Sounds like you were a fundamentalist being raised in a liberal baptist church. I'm a liberal baptist that worships at a fundamental baptist church . :')

I'm a Baptist and I have a broad sense of humor. This article struck me as strange and neither funny nor satirical.

Why didn't you post the comments that followed the article on this liberal blog? You really can't 'feel the love' without them.
Comments
I've always thought "Baptist polity" was an oxymoron ...
They should change their name so I don't confuse them with my phone company.
How about changing the name to "Enigma Babylon One World Faith"?
SSSHHHHHH!!! You are not supposed to mention the robes and the funny hats. Them there are kept at the Lodge.
The Southern Baptists didn't exactly distinguish themselves during the Civil Rights Movement either although there was a minority of progressives in the SBC that did help steer the denomination in a more moderate direction.

slavery, Southern, Scalawag, Southern Patriots, Confederacy, Jefferson Davis, Stonewall Jackson, Robert E. Lee, Well duh, Sons of Confederate Veterans, Confederate State of America Project, good old boys, robes and funny hats.
Seems the only words missing here are states rights, lynch and nigger.

I hadn't bothered to read the comments. You and others are right, this is a hit piece.

The silly part of this article (to me) was that who are the people in the south that are predominately baptist?
