Yes, there is anti-Semitism in Eastern Europe (and Western Europe, and elsewhere, for that matter).

I am confused as to what you believe the connection is between that factoid, and whether the content of Mel Gibson's movie The Passion of the Christ is anti-Semitic.

Did you read the article? The author is not of the "left".

He says he's not of the left. Not enough evidence in that statement to be conclusive. Other evidence in the article tends to disprove the statement.

I don't believe the content of Mel Gibson's movie The Passion of the Christ is anti-Semitic. The question is whether the movie could conceivably be a trigger to acts of violence in areas of the world where anti-Semitism runs high. The fear of this is based on the perception that the Passion Plays of old had that effect.

The question is whether the movie could conceivably be a trigger to acts of violence in areas of the world where anti-Semitism runs high.

Oh. Actually I hadn't known that was the question. But in that case, I do agree with you that the answer to that question is "yes".

The same is true of many movies. (In places where anti-Semitism runs high, one doesn't need much prompting....)

The fear of this is based on the perception that the Passion Plays of old had that effect.

If you say so. In any event, whatever the fear's based on, it's not based on an objective evaluation of the content of the film as being anti-Semitic, or "charging 'The Jews' with deicide", which was my point. best,

Sorry, my remark about the Lithuanian girl, and Eastern European anti-Semitism, was continuation of exchange I was having with AMDG&BVMH. I pinged you (Dr. Frank fan) as an afterthought. It wasn't in the context of our exchange, hence it came to you as a non sequitor.
