Two, and 4 permanent deacon candidates.

Not bad, especially considering the more progressive bent of your parish, and unlike many others, I do think the more properly formed deacons the better, it will be a great way to get rid of EMEs. Still, look at the difference in size between St Mary the Virgin and your parish, and St Mary the virgin, at least as of a few months ago according to B_chan has 3 men in the seminary.

I know you may not like it, but these men are going to be quite different than the Vatican II era clergy once they get ordained.

It's a Vatican II Church, JNB. These men will educated at a Vatican II seminary.

It appears now that the liturgical document, which was supposed to roll-back things like altar girls and communion-in-the-hand, will do no such thing.

We will likely level-out on the introduction of reforms, but we will not retrogress, either.

And, I suspect, the inculturated liturgies, which have been curtailed somewhat, will continue, due to the intervention of the African and Latin American bishops who aren't happy with Rome's limitations.

The Tridentine Indult will remain in place, even under a new pope. He will, after all, be a Vatican II cardinal, who will be committed to the Novus Ordo, rid of the abuses and novelty.

when the push towrds the restoration becomes stronger,

The idea of a "restoration" is a fantasy, concocted out of whole cloth in THE REMNANT, and other like e-zines, and in a fanciful corner of Free Republic.

No cardinals, or bishops, not even George Pell of Sydney, have given any credence to a retrogression back to the Tridentine Liturgy.

It is simply not going to happen,JNB.

The new Bishop of Charlotte, NC was installed yesterday. The ceremony included Mexican dancers and bongo drums.

And presided over by the Papal Nuncion, no doubt.

A reflection of a very old Roman saying:

"The Church, she make the laws up here.....we, the people, observe them down here."

There is little demand for Latin Masses, even for the Latin Novus Ordo Masses.

On a scale of 1 to 10, Tridentine Mass being a 1 and a typical suburban Novus Ordo being a 10, ....

I'd give the Latin Novus Ordo a 7.5.

Actually, Say's law is stupid.

No manufacturer would build a product for which there was no demand. The Edsel is an example.

Our bishop has said he will grant an indult Mass to any parish that can support it with at least 100 people.

ONE PARISH has asked, and only once a month.

Did he invite a pro-abort Democratic presidential candidate to his installation Mass? Did he allow that person to receive Holy Communion? Is he going to force "Touching and Talking" on the the Catholic children of his diocese? If not, he must be a "conservative" bishop.</sarcasm off>

Vatican II was a pastoral council, nothing more or nothing less Deacon, and todays seminarians take Vatican II in that context, and do not view Vatican II as a end on to itself. As I said before, the main liturgical reforms that Vatican II called for, more scripture in mass and more use of the vernacular will of course stay in place, but all other things are on the table, like it or not. What does it say to you that traidtional parish' such as St. Agnes produice so many vocations? Like it or not, these men will have a say in the future of the church, your generation can not and will not hold on to power forever.

Also, lastly, St. Agnes uses the same missal that your parish does.

My guess is most of these bishops, especially more recent apointees will fall in line if Rome does indeed crack the whip down the road. Ironically the mass in Mexico itself is quite a bit more traditional than it is in the US.

According to the FSSP web site, there is a indult mass at St Mary of the Assumption Church every Sunday at 5:30 PM, with the 2nd and 4th Sunday being high masses. Also keep in mind many traditional Catholics in your diocese probably go to St Mary the Virgin parish.

The restoration of the full on Tridentine mass completely in Latin is a fantasy, I agree, though as I have said, down the road somthing like the 65 missal may be implmented. Anyways, what I expect is the implementation of what Vatican II called for, not what Vatican II era clergy such as yourself want. What Cardinal Arinze has suggested is a traditional style Novus Ordo, and he presided at a mass at St. Johns parish in Chicago a couple of weeks ago.

Anyways, you can no more predict the future than I can, but even in 65, few would have predicted what the mass would be like 7 years later by 72, all it takes is enough Vatican II era clergy to retire, cahncery offices to be cleaned up when the againg dissenters have to retire and younger, orthdox priests will be given more leeway to make changes. Oh it will be small things at first such as ditching the OCP/GIA hymnals for the Collegeville hymnal, asking all ordained priests and deacons assigned to a parish to hand out communion at all day of obligation masses, more encouragment for boys to take up altar service again, possibly some Latin for the ordinaries for the mass such as the Angus Dei and Sanctus, but like it or not sinkspur, changes will come.

asking all ordained priests and deacons assigned to a parish to hand out communion at all day of obligation masses,

If you mean Sundays, forget it.

If you mean holy days, we do that now, as the attendance at these is so poor.
