[history]
A month after his wife learned she was pregnant, 19-year-old Patrick O'Day shipped out to Iraq, a lance corporal in the Marine Corps who took pride in being rough and tough and always ready.
Before he left, the excited young husband made sure to check on his health plan so it would accommodate the baby-to-be. In his daily letters, he playfully reminded his wife, Shauna, to see the doctor and eat something green every day.

Shauna O'Day kisses her 2-week-old daughter, Kylie Marie Patrick O'Day, at her parents' home Friday in Shingle Springs. Widowed at 19, she was the wife of Lance Cpl. Patrick O'Day, pictured left, killed five days after his 20th birthday in a tank accident in Iraq.

A sad story but the young widow and her parents and parents in law sound like a strong and courageous group. I like their chances of living fulfilling lives.

"Where do we get such men?"...and women...
May Providence constantly bless those the Marine left behind.

"I look at her and I see Patrick. It's amazing that this happened and that his life is continuing through her," said Steve Hill. When I read quotations like this, I always hope that these people actually believe in life after death--that this isn't all they hope for.

Some have given so much.
All the rest of us have to do is pony up $ 87 billion.
To do less, and lose all we have won in Iraq, is to dishonor those who have paid the ultimate price so we can stay free and safe in our homes and with our families.
May God richly bless this young Marine's wife, daughter, and family now and in the future.

But in her womb, all was calm. A baby girl was taking shape -- the first signs of eyes were forming, little toes and fingers, a tiny heart and lungs. I thought it was against the law to publish stuff like this in California. (Or hasn't Gray Davis signed that one yet?)

I just caught myself chortling, guffawing and sighing , all at the same time, when I read your remarks.
If there was a buck to be made or advantage to be gained by doing so, one would wonder what Gray would do, but not for long, huh? ;-|
