California Democrats can be sorted today into two groups. There are the ones who get the recall. And then there are the ones who don't.
The ones who don't can't be missed. There's state Sen. John Vasconcellos, acting like an ass by calling Gov.-elect Arnold Schwarzenegger a "boob." Or Sen. Sheila Kuehl who says the Senate will have to save the state from the new governor's "ignorance." This comes from someone who, when I interviewed her last winter about about her universal health care legislation, couldn't explain the details of her own bill.

Sounds like the steamed Sen. John Vasconcellos is somewhat lacking in self esteem.
He should try one of those "self - esteem" courses that he spent millions of tax payers money on.
Self esteem....meet the real world, and mind the door in '04

If the Unions are representing the needs of millions of people, those millions are shrinking daily and hourly.
Both due to the oppreseive methods the unions are still using, left over from the 30's, 40's and 50's; and due to the Unions spending millions of dollars on political candidates and issues that the union members don't get to have any input on. Unions have been slapped down for not following law and setting aside member money when a union member doesn't want abortion, etc to be part of his union spending. They have been cavalier to their members.
Saying that organizations of small businesses don't represent very many voters is also in error, IMO. As the wholesale collapse and plundering of very large companies has run amock, many of the jobless from those actions have found jobs in small companies or started a business of their own. When you look at the records of employment for ALL the states, and particularly Calif, you will find that some 75-80% of employees working are working at small businesses....less than 30 employees.
Many of these businesses sell a product, but without the strength of the service attitude of their employees in contact with the customers, the business would fail. Large companies who sell inventory in very large quantities can have employees who have no personality, etc, and it doesn't damage the bottom line at all. With 4-10 employees, customer contact is everything.
Democrats have pandered so long to the very large unions, which are dinosars to many of us, that they have lost the pulse of the electorate. S. Kuehn is just one example. She made her stripes in life being a part of a tv series in which the main charachter did all he could to avoid "WORK". She has demonstrated this "Dobie Gillis" attitude thruout her life, IMO. She is the champion of the giveaway mandates. I won't miss her one bit when she is termed out. God forbid she lands another spot with much influence. Calif can't afford it.

This is true.
Back in the 70's, when I would champion bootstrap capitalism (aka: buying yourself a job/per the Dems), I was surprised at the anger it generated in my liberal then-friends. They feared self-employment tremendously. "Not everyone can be self-employed" was a common response.
What did they champion? Why, getting a government sinecure via CETA!
That was the beginning of the end of my affiliation as a liberal. It took a few more years, but they convinced me they were not about the America I knew.
I have been self-employed since 1965.

Sounds like we need more Dems to look like this...

"The recall was a political earthquake, said Assemblywoman Lois Wolk of Davis. The people were telling us to stop bickering. They want us to get on with solving problems. They want us to get on with fixing California's concerns"
THE RECALL MEANS: We don't just want you to FIX the mess YOU have made in California .. WE WANT YOU TO FIX IT .. AND NOT GIVE US (the taxpayer) THE BILL. We're sick and tired of paying the bill for your ineptness at governing, and for passing legislation for donations and not the good of California.
