Apologies sent, LJ. I comletely screwed up, mixing my response to a different poster with you. I went back and read your earlier post, and I can see that you ARE a libertarian after all. To a degree, so am I (Jeffersonian Constitiutional Conservative libertarian). Anyway, sorry for the screw up. And I could almost agree with your position on WOD. :O)

...mixing my response to a different poster with you

No problem, I've done that a few times myself. It was the "fascist" label I took offense to. Glad you were not applying it to me.

...I can see that you ARE a libertarian after all

Member of the LP, and feel that it best represents my political views (as currently practiced, most immigration and "free trade" are things advocated by the LP that I could live without).

And I could almost agree with your position on WOD

Because the vast majority of americans think they have no personal stake in the WOD, it's almost understandable to me how we've let it go on so long... a few million (mostly gov't) leeches living off of it on the "war" side (prison, drug-testing and drug counseling "industries", judges, cops, etc.), a few million criminals living off of it on the "supply" side (dealers, gangs, organized crime) and a few tens of millions of (mostly) non-violent, responsible and productive recreational users (like Rush) caught in the middle.

That leaves most of the population unaffected by the WOD enough to not see it as a major issue. This attitude is wrong... the WOD is costing us 100's of billions, it's taking away our constitutionally guaranteed rights, it's taking up valuable police and court time and prison space, and it's ruining the lives of millions of good, productive people.

I hope you never become a victim of the drug war. I wouldn't even wish that on Rush. But he got caught, and he should meet the same fate he's advocated for so many who did the exact same thing as he did. I'd really respect his opinions on the drug war after he's spent a few years in prison because of his years of illegal drug purchases and use.
