| Ken Hamblin on the Rita Cosby Show
Posted on 10/11/2003 7:17:26 PM PDT by Matchett-PI
Did anyone else hear the ludricrous statements that Ken Hamblin made on Rita's show just now?
Among other things, he said that "Rush was given the keys to the kingdom and let us down."
Then he proceeded to puff himself up, making a total jackass out of himself as far as I'm concerned.
I videotaped the whole segment and would replay it and transcribe it, but have to run out for a while right now.

Hoping for a juicy story, are ya? Actually, no. I care about Rush so much that any desperate story of him reaching into a toilet bowl at a high class restuarant to retrieve the blueys he dropped would just have me cringing in horror at his plight.
What I think his listeners REQUIRE to trust him again, when he gets back, is an honest spilling of his guts about how he felt deceiving us. You see, we thought he was basically always up front with us. We don't actually need to know how our talk show hosts live in their private lives, but Rush actually BROUGHT US IN with his descriptions. I think he owes us the confessions and apologies of a good friend, not as a broadcaster but as a trustworthy fellow soul.

I am not anti-Rush; as a woman and a nurse, I'm curious, that's all.
Why the knee-jerk hostility?
To: Hildy
This will be very tough for Marta. We should remember her in our prayers too. Absolutely.

Call it what you will, it shines through. I pray my nurse
will care for me and not judge me for the size of my girth.

I don't think Rush's problems have anything to do with the conservative cause.
Besides .. I believe Rush will return in 30 days, stronger and better than he was before. The dems may think they have marginalized Rush .. I think they will make a big mistake if they believe that.

Excuse me, just where did I mention girth? What are you, crazy? He hasn't had that wide a girth for some time now.
I was referring to his intractable pain caused by his back problems that did not respond to surgery.
Now, I have no idea what other therapy he might have tried before turning to pills.
I was just wondering about Marta, how this could happen without her knowledge.
BTW, since I work in a NICU, girth is never an issue :)

You see, we thought he was basically always up front with us. Some of us don't feel the need to demand he grovel and give us all the juicy details. I can imagine he feels lousy and ashamed.
An apology, I agree with. An accounting of which details of the story are true/false/something-in-between has been promised. That is all I require of the man.

Well .. I don't blame the dems. This was bound to get out sooner or later. For Rush's sake, better sooner.
Rush did this to himself. He's taken responsibility. When a doctor prescribes a drug for you - it's still your responsibility to find out what it is and how addictive it is.
I've been prescribed pain pills. I had bruised my rib cage and it was very painful to lay down and thus I couldn't sleep very well. However, the meds the dr gave me would just totally wipe me out to the point it scared me to take them. I would only take half a pill, and then I had to take it by 7 pm, in order to get up and go to work the next day. Within a week, the pain was gone.
I had that prescription for years and after it expired, I threw the rest away.
But .. I've never had pain which would not go away. That is a whole new ballgame.
To: ambrose
I haven't heard him day anything either.
But then .. the dems call everybody hypocrits - because that's what the dems really are .. it's that "projection" thingy again.
To: SnarlinCubBear
We don't know he lost his hearing because of this problem. I heard hearing loss only happens with vicadin - not the stuff Rush was taking.
To: Miss Marple
I will agree that it was NOT good for conservatism. Anyone who thinks this is no big deal is just plain not understanding what this means. This was bad for Rush in the sense he will have to go through withdrawl, then still have to deal with the physical pain that got him hooked. His career -- and conservatism -- is not going to suffer in the least, however.

Amen, LJ. But don't expect your lucid points to have any effect whatsoever on the Rushbots- their demi-god can do no wrong. Pray tell, what is a Rushbot?

I guess I don't fit into any of your neat little catagoies either.I guess mine would be number 5.Apathy? I'm sorry I just can't get all worked up over this. The man was in alot of pain and he took alot of pain pills BIG DEAL. I just don't see the controversy.

His inner demons have nothing to do with the causes that he espouses.Oh no! Please don't say that.
It sounds eerily like what the NOW cows said about Bill Clinton; and we ridiculed them for their hipocracy.

The one thing I keep seeing is the claim that Rush is a hypocrite because he's a big time Drug Warrior and has bashed addicts in the past. I've seen a few quotes from 1995. But to be totally honest, I have never heard him do that, at least in recent years, other than joking references to "pot smoking hippies"... What's the real deal on the "hypocrisy" front?
It all depends on when Rush had his "back surgery", when he went through Detox, and when he made his anti-druggie comments. If he was already an addict on illegaly purchsed pain pills when he made the statements his credibility is gone.
You can be sure there are hundreds of reporters researching his medical history at this minute.
I find it suspicous that he did not mention the date of his back surgery when he made his on-air statement.
