Sontag said Bush's policy breaks with America's tradition of consulting with allies on global matters instead of acting alone. He believes in the Decloration of Independence, the Federalist papers and the Constitution, and national soverinity - unlike Clinton.
How dare he be so....so.....pro-American!

"I think as long as the USA has only one political party the Republican Party, a branch of which calls itself the Democratic Party we aren't going to see a change of the current policy," she said. Susan truly misses the Communist Party.
If she weren't so vicious, she'd be humorous.

"It's really the end of the republic and the beginning of the empire," she said, referring to ancient Rome. Wow. Was this article written in 1992? Kinda old, isn't it?

"It's really the end of the republic and the beginning of the empire," she said, referring to ancient Rome. She has international freedom in the west to be critical because of American involvement in the first and second world wars, Pax Americana, and our victory in the Cold War. Writers like her will continue to be free to be critical of the west precisely because we are going to defeat Islamic nationalism as well. The militarism in the far east today would also threaten Sontag's freedom. But our armed service members are ready again to lay down their lives for her right to criticize.

Sontag, whose works have been translated into more than 30 languages, is a lover of European literature, especially German classics and philosophy. She is popular in Germany, where she has lived periodically. She also spent three years in Sarajevo during the Serb siege of the Bosnian city in the early 1990s and has campaigned on behalf of jailed and persecuted authors.
Notice how it doesn't mention anything about her undieing love for America. What a liberal dork.

"I am immodest enough to think that even if I hadn't spoken up about Bush I would have earned this prize anyway," she said. "I love me."
yep. Liberal at heart. By their fruits you will know them.

I believe that Sontag supported the Kosovan intervention for humanitarian reasons. I gather she thinks that Kosovars are of greater value than Iraqis.

Here's a link to the story and her picture in a German magazine:
"Der Spiegel"....Susan Sontag lobt Schröder und attackiert Walser
To parapahrase, this article emphasized her position that Germany, although making progress on the Holocaust issue, should not close the book on it and move on as her prize's predecessor, Martin Walser had suggested in 1998. She praised Gerhard Schroeder's foreign policy, even, she said, if it was mostly done for campaign purposes; it mentioned the democrats as a subset of the republican party thing; and that she was dismayed that current US policy doesn't follow the multi-lateralism of the previous administration. It also said that she was encouraged by the choice of the Iranian women for the peace prize.
All in all, I felt the article was somewhat inocuous in comparison to some of the things I've seen written in the German media.
