When thinking of Terri Schiavo, I often relate her condition to a newborn.
A newborn cannot care for itself, and will die without being fed. But, we can do this to Terri Schiavo, and the only difference is she is an adult.
The tragedy with abortion is that harvesting for medical research is a noble idea to some... when it should rightly be called cannibalism. (As MGHinTN pointed out before, I believe.)
The ball will continue to roll. Cloning truly has me concerned.

We seem to have done it to quite a few newborns as well, though. If Peter Singer has his way, there would be centers set up where parents could "turn in" their infant for the first 6-12 months of life, because the infant is disabled in some way or they just don't like it.
Peter Singer recently was given a very honorable chair at Princeton University, in spite of writing a book advocating infanticide as described above. Singer teaches ethics and philosophy at Princeton, I think.
