I wonder....if the person who is charged with removing the feeding tube were to use a pistol to terminate her life...would that person be charged with murder?

I thought the exact same thing.

Removing feeding and hydration brings a painful death , I hope that her husband Michael has an opportunity to experience it himself some day. He is killing her for the blood money. The flames of hell lick at his feet.

This is a pretty hateful thing to say. Please don't hope this on anyone.

I'm not ignoring your question. I'm not sure what to say though. If I tell someone I don't want something and am making an informed decision, they aren't killing me, but backing off as I instructed. If someone makes this decision for me, if I am unable it's still not murder. A judge who decides though to not only stop my food and water without giving me the opportunity to eat because it might kill me is holding a pistol IMO

I have heard that the parents are willing to launch a civil wrongful death suit against those employed at the hospice who do assist in ending Terri's life.

I do believe it conflicts with federal law for those institutions who receive federal funds to disconnect the feeding tube. Since the hospice receives medicare payments, this would be a federal violation. But as far a Florida law, they can.

The same absolute respect for all life is there in the Vedas. This respect is based on (as in Christianity) the fact that beings are children of God, regardless of human relative values, and therefore everyone is dear to Him, and should therefore be dear to us.

I'm not sure this absolute respect and value exsists. I don't beleive you will find any orphanages in countries that are predominately Hindu such as India and Nepal that were not established by Christian missions.

If a child is orphaned and staves to death on the street it is just their lot in life.

Well, I personally have never met either one of them, however from this post I'm not sensing a lot of fairness and compassion in Judge Greer's rulings in this case.

Would you condemn me for finally giving up smoking cigarettes? Would you say it is hypocritical for me to stop buying cigarettes because I had smoked for 20 years?

Off hand, it sounds like you are pressuring people to stop caring about Terri.

Even "good" judges are only human and make lousy decisions.

Judge Greer---YOU should have looked into Terri's eyes and asked her if she wanted to live.

"Can you imagine being locked inside your body, perfectly capable of thought but unable to communicate to everyone - hey! I'm here! I can hear you, see you, love you - don't let me die!"

Perfect, you described it so well.

This happens every day. Those that say, it's "for the family" (embarking on the long hard road to recovery), have it backwards.

Prayers for Terri today. We can't allow this..

Thank you, dear Sam.

".............two excellent judges, refuse to do precisely those things FReepers have universally railed against"

What things do they refuse to do that FReepers have railed against?

Memo to George W. Greer

Why don't you jog by Terri's room

On one of your physical fitness runs

and ask her if she wants to starve?

MarMema, thanks for all you have done for Terri. I have read your posts and know that you have spent an awful lot of time researching and trying to get this out to everyone. We are learning and I am angry!

For Christine Busalacchi, the emotions were running so high in St. Louis about her being killed, that they moved her to a place they would not tell anyone and had armed guards posted. They refused all release of information about what was happening to the public until after she had died.

There are many HINOs - many so-called Hindus do not have a great understanding or application of their ancient scriptures. Kind of like the troubling fact that many Christian women have abortions.
