YOU obviously don't live with severe and chronic pain.
I can't tolerate any of the codeine family. It's probably good for me that I can't, because I would surely be taking all the oxycontin I could get my hands on by now. I am under no illusion that I am stronger than my pain is. Nor do I believe that the pain is as bad as it could get--I have seen cancer patients suffering worse, and childbirth gave me a definite clue as well.
I suffer daily and constant pain that is obviously beyond the imagination of some people. If I found a drug that made it feel better, I don't think anything could stop me. That's just fact.

YOU obviously don't live with severe and chronic pain. Please read my other posts
I am not saying it should be banned or that people should not take them
I just think, because of studies, that doctors should monitor their patients to make sure they don't become so additict that they destroy their lives
And yes, I do think this can be done without the politicains putting their stupid ideas into the issue

Just be careful... when my sister, now deceased, was coming off of DOCTOR PRESCRIBED Oxycontin, she developed an anuerysm in the esophagus, mouth of the stomach, bled out and was lost within 2 minutes. She wasn't on them for 2 months, but the vomitting and pain in the stomach was just listed as, "withdrawl from morphine". You must pay attention to symptoms, be educated about them. We lost her for no reason, and have absolutely no recourse. She was just shy of 54 years old, and beautiful.

I pray that you will find something to help you through this.

Sorry to hear about the pain you are dealing with.
I think people who are in constant and/or severe pain should be given what works for them. I deal with migraines. I cannot take the new drugs like Imitrex. A couple times a year I ask for 5 Vicodin and you wouldn't believe the hassle. One time he gave me Darvocet which didn't help and if you get what you want, you feel like a drug addict for asking.
I could understand if I was calling every month asking for 30 pills, but a couple times a year?
People even commit suicide because of constant severe pain.
