I'm still periodically stunned at the ethnocentrism of the Chinese.

Their mentality of "us against the barbarians" is soooooo entrenched in the culture and even in the individual psychological ethos. Even among my close loved ones, it can crop up suprisingly often.

They are FIERCELY AND INTENSELY EAGER to rise up and be counted according the the glory, clout and KING OF THE HILL; CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE status they see themselves as having lost.
