Analysis: the clergy's nuclear program in Iran

Whether the international community wants to admit it or not, it seems evident that the clerics in Iran are pursuing a nuclear program that is not purely “peaceful”. After all why would the Mullahs be chasing away IAEA inspectors from simply taking environment samples if their program is purely for civilian use?

It has been our position that the Middle East should be a nuke free zone with a defensive military balance existing among all countries in the region. The same view would be applied to our beloved country Iran while we have to emphasize that Iran today is being run by clerics who openly refuse to acknowledge the legitimacy of Iranians as a nation and loathe Iranian culture and customs as well as international peace and coexistence. The Islamic Constitution in Iran obligates the export of their particular brand of Islam, assigning such responsibility to the Revolutionary Guards Corps (RGC) among other organs. In order to legitimize such adventures, the Islamic leaders in Iran have constantly been provoking foreign powers without regard to Iran's national security and regional peace. According to the introduction to the Islamic Constitution in Iran, laying down the principals for the whole Constitution “… the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps are to be organized … and they will be responsible not only for guarding and preserving the frontiers of the country, but also for fulfilling the ideological mission of jihad in God’s way; that is, extending the sovereignty of God's law throughout the world …”.

History has shown that given stones, the Mullahs stone women, given ropes, they hang, and given guns, they assassinate and massacre people. It would not be hard to imagine what they will do if they get their hands on nuclear weapons.

The clerical regime is smart enough to create safe and fake copies of everything it perceives as a threat, whether it be opposition groups, newspapers, political prisoners, human rights activists, etc. The regime has followed the same policy when going about creating their nuclear weapons program, by setting up one public program for international scrutiny and another secret underground program for it’s real aims. IAEA will certainly not find anything at Bushehr, because it is part of the public program. Our sources in Iran have indicated that while the Russian technicians and employees serving at the Bushehr plant are at this time selected from very low level experts, the technical expertise of the secret Natanz project is the highest in their field. In fact there exist in Iran, two separate nuclear energy institutions; the official institution is called the “Atomic Energy Organization of The Islamic Republic of Iran” while the secret directorate of the nuclear weapons acquisition, research and manufacturing is referred to as the “Center for Atomic Research of the House of the Supreme Leader”.

The regime’s plan therefore, follows two distinct paths. First the Mullahs have been pursuing the acquisition of nuclear bombs from abroad, in a very quick time frame and at the same time they are trying to understand and employ nuclear technology. The clerics have always hinted at their interest in atomic weapons. For example when Pakistan tested her nuclear weapons, Ayatollah Khamenei, expecting a share in that destructive power, congratulated Pakistan saying the Pakistani bomb is good for Islam. The Pakistani Prime Minister Navaz Sharif however, replied that while it was indeed good for Pakistan, it had no relevance to Islam.

During the late 1990s, the Revolutionary Guards Corps ran advertisements in various Iranian newspapers, offering scholarships to engineers for doctorate degrees in the field of nuclear science (!) And mining (!) in return for several years of future service in the RGC. Clearly, the Revolutionary Guards Corps has no business recruiting and training such scientists for any reason other than military purposes.

MPG sources in Iran have informed us that the Mullahs have already acquired six nuclear weapons, and this is the reason for their present hard line stance against American and European pressures on the nuclear issue. Two of the six Islamic nuclear weapons have been obtained from the Ukrainian black market during the post Soviet turmoil while the other four have been assembled in Iran from components obtained from North Korea, China and the Russian black market with the help of renegade scientists and rogue nations. On the anniversary of the Islamic revolution in 2003, Khatami said proudly that "we have nuclear know how, and we have no worries, but we will use it for peaceful means".

Iran has one of the biggest natural resources of Uranium in the world. In order to convert Uranium 328 to fissile Uranium 325, the regime requires lots of energy and will probably use the Brazilian enrichment method according to our sources. In order to greatly speed up the long process of obtaining enough enriched Uranium for large quantities of nuclear bombs, the Mullahs are attempting not only to set up thousands of centrifuge units but also to obtain catalysts for enhancing the efficiency of the process. The friction between Russia and the Mullahs over returning spent Uranium fuel from the Bushehr project back to Russia is also indicative of their intent to maximize their possibilities and resources to produce weapons grade Uranium.

In order to relieve the international community and take some heat off themselves as well as the Russians, the clerics have included Morris Motamed, the Jewish representative at the Islamic Parliament, in the energy subcommittee of the Parliament, sending him to Russia to inspect the progress of the Bushehr nuclear project and attest to it's "peaceful purposes". The logic being that a Jewish person would never actively participate in a program, which could ensure the destruction of Israel.

The clerics are not only after manufacturing bombs - since they already have six - but they are more interested in how to mass produce and deliver the nuclear weapons to their designated targets. While the clerics could use passenger and cargo planes to deliver nuclear bombs-Al Qaedeh style- they are also working on long-range surface-to-surface missiles for that purpose. The Shihab 4 ballistic missile can hit Paris, and will be unveiled at the next anniversary of the Islamic Republic in February 2004. The next generation Shihab 5, with a little help from North Korea will be able to hit New York. The Mullahs are ruthless enough to even use nukes against “their own” people, and have been known to have shared their toys with other terrorist entities such as Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad, and Hamas, only to name a few. Rafjsanjani is even on the record, discussing a “scenario that is not inconceivable”, insinuating that he would like to nuke Israel and would not mind nuclear retaliation in the "Islamic World" since while “Israel would be destroyed by one bomb, the Islamic World would sustain minimal damage" by Israeli nuclear strikes. The powerful Rafsanjani was clearly threatening Israel with a nuclear suicide attack whose victims would include tens of millions of innocent Muslims.

While all this is going on, some still believe that a referendum will solve all their worries regarding the clerics' reckless policy!
