''The question I'm asked most often is, When are we getting our eight words?'' Podesta said. Conservatives, he went on, ''have their eight words in a bumper sticker: 'Less government. Lower taxes. Less welfare. And so on.' Where's our eight-word bumper sticker? Well, it's harder for us, because we believe in a lot more things.'' MORE TAXES, TAX THE RICH, MORE PROGRAMS, BAN THE GUNS, KILL BABIES

The Free Republic Lifeform
"... This is a wonderful description of what Free Republic really is. It is a living and evolving Life Form to battle the left wingers and those who would destroy this country!
The Free Republic Life Form enables us to discover the truth about what is happening. We can avoid the spin of the major mediots as they work 24/7 to weaken this country. We come to the Free Republic Life Form to find the truth! ...
Free Republic needs a constant infusion of cash to keep the Free Republic Life Form alive, viable and to grow. If we believe in Free Republic, we must donate each month or quarterly to keep this incredible life form alive...
Good stewardship is what this world needs, not good intentions. Good conservative stewards will insure that the Free Republic Life Form continues to grow, be viable and thrives!"

Eight words:
Free Health Care, Peaceful Coexistence, Tax the Rich.
They'll probably need more than eight words to describe their socialized view of their ideal world.

The prickly Weyrich presided with a scowl from the dais (he is now confined to a wheelchair), from which he exhorted the faithful to get their message out, using words that made him sound like some liberal's parody of Dr. Evil. Yet he seems to idolize Podesta, the marathon runner, the guy with the wise angular face, etc., etc.

The republican/conservatives have it easy, etc, etc.

They don't get it. Their lack of 'new vision' is due to the fact that their outlook on the world was invented long ago by Karl Marx.
Their bumper sticker should read:
Socialism: We Still Believe It Can Work Here

MORE TAXES, TAX THE RICH, MORE PROGRAMS, BAN THE GUNS, KILL BABIESI can do it in fewer words: All power to the soviets! Your set of buzzwords, worthy as they are, are just means to an end.
Everything the RATs did, do, or hope to do involves increasing government control over every person and every aspect of life. You wouldn't normally do that if your opponent was winning elections, and keeping you out of power. Why let him exercise the power you sought?
The numerous examples of corruption and obstruction of justice in the klinton regime and their electoral hanky-panky starting in 2000 and continuing today tells me the only thing that liberals have not yet accomplished is TOTAL control forever. They have established so much liberalism as the very air that everyone must breathe that they no longer notice how much they have already achieved.
Leftists whine about talk radio, Fox News, and a few think tanks. Those are just small islands in a sea of leftism. The klintons got just about every leftist wet dream desired short of risking civil war.
That leftists whine about these minor annoyances indicates to me that their desire is COMPLETE power, forever. The klintons used the IRS to audit those think tanks, the NRA, The American Spectator, and important conservative contributors. They chilled those conservative/libertarian organizations, but couldn't completely silence them. You can bet that if they get back into power, it will be "no more mister nice guy" this time around. The leftist velvet glove will come off, leaving just the mailed fist.

This is the same formular over and over. Our opponents got nice shiny think tanks, we'll just rent a building and get some phones,a couple desks and some fancy chairs and we'll have one too. Ya..thats it...that'll make us influential.
As if the act of hiring people to sit down and chat about how they are going to chat about ideas they think will eventually materialize is going to do them any good. The reporter at least saw that the conservatives started with core beliefs (the bumper sticker words) and that the dems are still searching for those beliefs.

You remember that old line about success being the ability to fake sincerity convincingly?
The Dems think they can win by cobbling together something that looks very much like a coherent philosophy. Problem is twofold: what animates this drive for a "message" is (1) naked hatred and (2) lust for personal power - and possibly not in that order. Those are the building blocks of failure.
The power of any philosophy comes from being rooted in truth and promulgated with integrity. You can't fake it.
Eventually they'll realize that that was the lesson of the Clinton Era.

This article mirrors the DIMS "feelings" about welfare...why just acquiring the proper acoutremnts eliminates poverty, puts us back in power etc. etc. no understanding at all of thought, content, facts and consequential decisionmaking.

This is a small point, but the brilliant Mr. Podesta also is apparently arithmetically challenged. The "eight word bumper sticker" appears to me to consit of nine words. I guess if you're really smart and "progressive", accuracy is a trivial thing.
To: Pokey78
"Is it a left-leaning TV network to fight back against a right-tilted media?" As I like to point out, the Gramscian program has entailed a slow, deliberate program of subversion. The Left realized that its grand program of destroying the West could only be achieved by capturing the culture and its organs: hence they began a multi-generation campaign to infiltrate the schools and the media.
The rot is now so deep that it can be remedied only by one of two means: either an equally-patient, multi-generation program of reverse subversion or a bloody civil war.
The Right has not shown much stomach for the first option (at least so far, as apparent to me). Eventually the second will become a reality; I hope I am dead and buried before it does because it will make the first one look like a Sunday-school picnic.

Here we have Hillary, "the smartest woman in the world", saying they need new ideas, so I guess she has none. Then there is Podesta saying,''At least as a broad-based idea, are you getting what I'm throwing out here?'' Once again, there is that elietist attitude. Which brings up another point, why are democrat orgainizations always refered to as "eliete"? As in "eliete press", "eliete think tanks",etc. Answering my own question; maybe because they are such elietists themselves.
