Thank you. It's been just a year, and I keep wondering when the grief will lighten up. It just keeps grinding away at me. And now seeing the Pope going through what she did, it brings it all back again.

You're welcome. :) It will never go away because you love and miss her. One thing that finally helped me was when I quit focusing on the tragedy of how my mother died and started focusing on the good memories I have of her. I try to celebrate her life now and not her death. :) Be Blessed!

I'm not a Catholic either but stomach cancer is a difficult way to go. I hope he goes quickly so suffering is minimized.

No, I'm NOT saying that Prostate Cancer should be Ignored; I'm merely saying that--at His age,--there are Other, More Pressing Physical Issues His Physicians need to address.

At His Age, there is an 85+% chance He has Prostate Cancer-----SO WHAT!!!

There is VERY Little chance that his Prostate Cancer will affect His Life.

Prostate Cancer in Elderly Males is generally a slow, inoffensive Disease.

Most Elderly Males Succumb to Cardiovascular problems--LONG BEFORE their "Prostate Cancer" has any effect on their lives!

Not Catholic, but I'm saying prayers for this brave Man of Peace who has broken so much ground. How can any successor equal his accomplishments? I've always admired him greatly.

Even if his cancer is normal, the fact that his handlers continue to prop him up in obvious pain and discomfort is disgusting. My own father-in-law died of prostate cancer, and in the stages we now see the pope in, we were diapering him, not parading him around the world.

Pope John Paul & Arafat have stomach cancer?

Strange isn't it? The good and the bad.

My Mother died of cancer over a year ago too, Eggs. I am Catholic AND half Polish, so I especially esteem this Pope!

"I'll be 27 in November so this is the only Pope I've ever known. He's most definitely in my prayers."

I'll be 66 on November 27th, and there have been several popes in my lifetime. I'm not Catholic, but this pope has had a special place in my heart. I'm sorry he is being used, in my opinion. He should be allowed to lie down and die in dignity, not be artifically stood up and paraded around the world. It is torture that he has been going through.

Beatification is the step before becoming a saint. The sainthood process is called canonization.

The title that goes with Beatification is "Blessed"

The title that goes with Canonization is "Saint"

A thorugh vetting process is done all the local level to check for special happenings in the lives of people who might be beatified or canonized. Then it moves to the bishop or diocesan level and things are checked again. Then it moves on to the national level and then on to the Vatican and it is done all over again and again.

Much like the government -- the levels of investigation, that is.
