Please spare me. I don't subscribe to your notion that all of God's children must suffer. And don't try to challenge me on this. I and my family have suffered much, but we do not think that God requires it.

stomach cancer? Are they mixing the pope up with yassar arafat, who also is supposed to have stomach cancer?
Both the pope and President Reagan had colon cancers removed years ago. Both are in remission.
The pope is suffering from parkinson's disease, and also is debilitated from hepatitis that he picked up from bad blood transfusions given when he was shot. Back then the hepatitis was called "non a non b" type...I suspect it was hepatiitis C, which can cause cirrhosis twenty years later. It is treatable, but he is too ill to take the treatment.
And his Parkinsonism is quite bad. If he gets pneumonia he might die.
Peggy Noonan mentions in one of her books that Catholics figure we are safe as long as he is alive, but after he dies, most catholics expect something terrible to happen.
given what is happening to our Anglican brethren, I suspect a major schism, and maybe even a persecution

I'm not Catholic but JP2 has been a good one. He made it crystal clear that universal truths are not subject to mores of the times. The Kingdom of God is not a democracy.
If you must leave us, Karol, Godspeed.

What wonderful pictures. Thank you so much for posting them. My mom's family came from Poland, so I remember vividly, the day that it was announced that he was our Pope.
To: kellynla
I am not Catholic, but have always respected and admired the Pope. I will certainly keep him in my prayers.
To: kellynla
I hope he can get the liturgical reforms in place before he dies.

They administer drugs to try and ensure the Pope will live to carry out the three climatic events of his 25 years on the Throne of St Peter.
How sad that they seek to delay the meeting between this good man and our Creator. Does anyone know if this is his wish, to be maintained in (likely) pain and unrest just for an artificial "anniversary"?
See bold above: when did the Pope start to control the weather?

It's starting her on the road to sainthood and is not to be confused with "beautification," which is when they put on the saint makeup and do the saint hairdo.
