LAS VEGAS (AP) - Jerry Kelly tied a PGA Tour record Friday with eight straight birdies at the Las Vegas Invitational.
Kelly birdied holes 7 through 14 at the TPC Summerlin course with putts that ranged from 6 inches to 15 feet.
Other players who have had eight straight birdies at tour events are Bob Goalby (1961), Fuzzy Zoeller (1976), Dewey Arnette (1987), Edward Fryatt (2000) and J.P. Hayes (2002).
Kelly's round didn't start out very well. He bogeyed two of the first four holes.
"I was about as hot as I've been in a while," Kelly said. "Then all of a sudden, I started making everything."
Kelly finished with a 7-under 65 and was at 18-under after three rounds of the 90-hole tournament.

Wow... I'd settle for 8 birdies over my lifetime!

I had eight birdies in a row once. I would have had nine, but I mis-timed the raising of the draw bridge on 14.

8 straight birds and he only finished with a 65?! ...That's one mighty inconsistent round, shooting one over par on all the other holes.
