When is a "noble time?" Maybe until this came out, he hadn't totally recognized how addicted he was, or how addicted he was in the view of the rest of the country. Addiction comes in many forms.

Yeah that slimeball reporter should have left Rush alone to enjoy his private habit. Oh wait... If Rush is sincere he ought to stand next to said slimeball and pat him/her on the back and thank them from the bottom of his heart for saving his life.

But I do wonder why all this sympathy for rich, white, Republican junkie, and utter indifference to the plight of all those others caught up in our insane and inane drug laws?(rightbanker reply #222)What is untrue about the statement(Nov3)
Because it implies the race card and class warfare, which is from the demo playbook.
I am in full support for anyone who decides to kick a life ruining addiction, be they black, white, yellow, orange, or purple.
For Rush to admit it to millions of people over the radio takes a lot of guts and gets my respect.

A reason, yes, but not an excuse. I agree with everything you said. It's going to particularly hard for him now because it wasn't his honest decision to go back to rehab. I've been around this kind of thing myself, and a friend of mine is going through it now. That's how I recognized that you know what you are talking about, and I understand what you are saying, and I think you are right.
There is one strange thing I wonder about: how could his employer enable him by keeping him on the air? The network HAD to have known the guy wasn't clean, if not after the first stay in rehab, then certainly after the second. I guess the money was too good; they didn't give a damn.

Let me add my blessings to Rush. He has been there for us for many years..it's time that we are there for him. Those here that are trashing him make me sick. He is a human being. For those that say they will now abandon him, it says more about them than it does about Rush. Godspeed, Rush.

Yeah that slimeball reporter should have left Rush alone to enjoy his private habit.I have no respect for any "reporter" for the Enquirer, no matter how much the story may have been a blessing in disguise for Rush.

I listened to Rush during his second hour today, and thought that he sounded distracted.
I should have listened longer...

I don't buy the "physical pain = spiritual pain" analogy either. All addicts are spritually sick period. prescription or otherwise. They live a fear based life. The only true cure for a true addict/alcoholic is a spiritual experience. They must change at a base level. They must realize their powerlessness in all areas of their life.
Being an alcoholic/addict is a blessing if you get help.

What gets me is they are coming here and to Drudge for news. Why not the LA Times?

I figured that Michael Medved must have been syndicated since he hadn't filled in for Rush for years.

These are facts. Rush has verified some substance in the accuser's story.
Too bad.
Too human.
This is serious injury to conservative media credibility.

I quit smoking and drinking many times over the years, nothing changed until I admitted I was powerless over alcohol and went to my first AA (10/26/75) Meeting ~ I've clean, sober and smoke free since then.

He wasn't working the system for fun or profit, it was for relief of pain. No, he was working it to feed his addiction.
