Where's his wife? It doesn't seem to me that she is standing by her man. Maybe she doesn't believe him? Maybe it sounds just a bit too familiar?

What I find very strange is that his wife wasn't with him on his first trip to Colorado.

New mom, not working....Dad is going somewhere...
I would be with him for a bit of a family holiday with the darlin' new baby girl. To take care of hubby after his surgery etc.

My guess is that his wife is totally into Mommy mode with the baby and not paying attention to him. Being ignored is not something he is used to.

So he takes it out on the first chick through the door.
